Bags of cement

Hello Friends!
Here is another level of corruption...Dis regard for quality buildings and safety of human /animal life.

The police in Ondo State have arrested three persons for allegedly adulterating cement at Ore town in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

Our correspondent learnt that the suspects were picked up when they were trying to offload some quantities of the product which were believed to have been adulterated inside a store.

The suspects allegedly took the fake products to a dealer in Ondo town who had earlier placed an order for them.

It was further learnt that cement dealers in the state had been complaining about an alleged foul play from the sellers of the commodity in Ore.

A particular dealer in Ondo was said to have discovered that 50 out of the 200 bags of cement he purchased from a store in Ore were fake.
The 50 bags were allegedly adulterated with sand.

The dealer allegedly told the police that one of his customers drew his attention to the ugly development.

He said some of his customers had also returned the products earlier bought for fear of being possibly adulterated.

“A construction work was ongoing when a customer discovered that during the process of preparation, some of the cement floated on water. A large quantity of sand was allegedly discovered under the bag in which they were packed,” he said.

Consequent upon the report, detectives were said to have been detailed to investigate the matter.

A police source said, “A dummy was set by the police in order to unravel the circumstances behind the incident.

“The cement dealer in Ondo was told by the police to place request for the supply of 200 bags of the commodity from the Ore town cement seller.”

The products were said to have been loaded in a truck with registration number XR392AKD.

Detectives from Fagbe Police Division, placed at a strategic location in the area, reportedly swooped on them.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Funbi Fagun Police Division, Mrs. Joyce Maiyaki-Mathew, confirmed the incident.

She said investigation had started on the matter and that efforts were ongoing to apprehend two other suspects.
