A housewife, Mrs. Roseline Ibrahim, betrayed her husband, Yahaya Ibrahim, and ran away after he stood surety for her at a police station in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

The 39-year old Yahaya has been confined to prison custody in Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos after Roseline escaped from facing criminal charge for an offence she allegedly committed.

She also switched off her phone, leaving her husband to face his fate.

Yahaya wept bitterly wile facing the charge and said in the open court that his wife and mother of five children told him that since he has no money to settle her case of assault, it was better for him to go to jail while she stays behind to take care of their children.

According to world-science.net, re­search­ers sug­gest the fast­ing might help be­cause nor­mal cells tend to put off try­ing to di­vide when nu­tri­ents are lack­ing—but can­cer cells keep try­ing, and this pro­cess ul­ti­mately kills them.

Fast­ing, even on its own, ef­fec­tively treated a ma­jor­ity of can­cers tested in mice, in­clud­ing trans­planted can­cer tu­mors made of hu­man cells, re­search­ers said.

Their stu­dy, pub­lished in the jour­nal Sci­ence Trans­la­t­ional Med­i­cine, found that five out of eight can­cer types in mice re­sponded to fast­ing alone: just as with chem­o­ther­a­py, fast­ing slowed the growth and spread of tu­mors.

And with­out ex­cep­tion, “the com­bina­t­ion of fast­ing cy­cles plus chem­o­ther­a­py was ei­ther more or much more ef­fec­tive than chemo alone,” said study sen­ior au­thor Val­ter Longo of the Uni­vers­ity of South­ern Cal­i­for­nia.

Two homosexuals sentenced to 2years in prison in Nasarawa State

An Upper Area Court sitting in Mararba, Nasarawa State, yesterday sentenced two men, Ifeanyi Benedict Ahah and Rabiu , both found guilty of unnatural tendencies or having intercourse with each other, to two years in jail each, without bail.





The pair were sentenced yesterday Wednesday March 21st by Judge Mariga Abdullahi, and ordered to pay a fine of N5,000 each at the beginning of their sentence. Just before the sentence was passed, Mr. Rabiu pleaded for leniency, saying that he is married with six children.

Ifeanyi, on his own part, pleaded the court to forgive him. He claimed to be repentant and promised not to go into the act anymore if pardoned.

The Judge , however, insisted that the law must take its course, saying that the sentence was passed in hope that it will serve as a deterrent to others involved in such unnatural acts.

Armed Robbers Attack Zenith Bank Ekpoma, with Native Doctor...

My concern as would be the same as many of you, is what is a 15 year old boy doing with a robbery gang? Too much action movies? Lack of perental care/supervision? The society?

Security Forces makes way, as heavily armed robbers raids Ekpoma branch of Zenith and UBA banks.

The Armed robbers according to eye witnesses included a young boy who according to them might be about 15 years old, they also claim that the armed robbers brought a magician ( popularly known as Native doctor along with them).


It was gathered that the armed robbers used sophisticated weapons during the attacked which lasted for 40 Mins, they used substances suspected to be dynamite to blow and crush the metal detector at zenith bank, several rounds of ammunition were ceaselessly fired while the operation lasted.

Ironically, a motorcyclist on seeing how the youngest member of the Gang ceaselessly fired in the air, approached to applaud him, the young armed robber however got it all wrong and fired at him.(stupid Okada rider).

It was however gathered that he did not die instantly, as he was rushed to a nearby hospital after the operation.

Tchidi denies impregnating actress Nuella Njubigbo...

This is some interesting update on Tchidi's marriage break up...If She isn't pregnant, what's the fuss all about?

Contrary to rumours making the rounds that Nuella Njubigbo is pregnant for the top Nollywood producer cum actor, Tchidi Chikere, the light-complexioned actress is not pregnant.

Also, the insinuation that Chikere whose nine year old marriage to his ex-wife, Sophia crashed last week has concluded plan to temporarily relocate to the United States with his Nuella is said to be unfounded.

A soft-sell magazine and a popular blog during the week reported that the beautiful actress is pregnant for Chikere adding that both lovers are planning to tie the knot by the end of the year.

News filtering in says late MC Loph’s fiancée , Nkiru, has been delivered of a bouncing baby boy.
Nkiru, who was pregnant at the time of her fiancé death delivered on Tuesday 20th March 2012.

The family of the late rapper are said to be excited at the birth of baby.
Further findings revealed that the newborn baby is a carbon copy of his late father.

It would be recalled that MC Loph died in a car accident with his sister along the Benin/Ore road last year on his way to his traditional wedding in the east.

Two charged with stealing N2.2m staff salary...

Two employees of a Lagos-based company were on Thursday brought before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing N2.2m belonging to the company.

   

The defendants, Sunday Adekunle, 26, and Abiola Onigbanjo, 28, are facing trial two counts of conspiracy and stealing, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Adekunle was living at 2, Akinola Adeniji off Medinat Estate, Lagos, while Onigbanjo was resident at 12, Peter Aremu, Street, Ikotun, Lagos.

A housewife, Mrs. Seinab Adebayo, on Thursday told an Ijebu-Ode Customary Court Grade ‘A’ that her husband, Adewale, was not the biological father of their three children.

Seinab, who is pregnant, also told the court that her husband was also not responsible for the pregnancy, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Adewale, who is the plaintiff, had early this month dragged his wife to court for packing out of the house with the three children without his consent.

He urged the court to order his wife to return his three children to him.

One killed, four injured as NITEL building collapses

A labourer, Matthew Adesuyi, was crushed to death while four others sustained varying degrees of injuries after a building, being refurbished, collapsed on the premises of the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited on FIRRO Road, Cappa, Oshodi, Lagos.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victims were labourers hired to work on the one-storey building.

One of the labourers, who identified himself simply as Sodiq, said the incident occurred around 8:30am on Thursday.

He said, “We are over 70 labourers hired to refurbish the building. Most of my colleagues had gone out to have breakfast but I remained in the building, on the ground floor, when it trembled.

“I immediately beckoned to my colleagues who were on the first floor but the building quickly collapsed.

Cocaine, heart disease, drowning killed Whitney Houston – Coroner

Whitney Houston died from an accidental drowning in a hotel bathtub, but the “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use” were contributing factors in her death, the Los Angeles County Coroner said in an initial autopsy report released Thursday.

Houston, 48, was “found submerged in bathtub filled with water” and “no trauma or foul play is suspected,” the coroner said.

The toxicology tests found other drugs in her body, including marijuana, the anti-anxiety drug Xanax, the muscle relaxant Flexeril and the allergy medicine Benadryl, the report said. But these drugs “did not contribute to the death,” it said.

 

The one-page report released Thursday did not disclose the levels of each drug, but that information will be included in the final coroner report to be made public within two weeks, the coroner said.

Coroner’s spokesman Craig Harvey told AP that cocaine metabolites were found in Houston’s system, and it was listed as a contributing factor in her death. He says the results indicated Houston was a chronic cocaine user.

This is the most outrageous story I have read in the last 10 years! This is simply CRAZY!

Nura Mustapha, 28, is currently explaining to homicide detectives at the State Criminal Investigative Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos State, why he was allegedly caught having sex with the corpse of a lady identified as Faith Akin.

Mustapha was arrested early in March after an attendant at the Green Star Hotel, Alaba-Rago, raised an alarm that he would not allow the corpse to be retrieved. Police officers identified the corpse of the lady as Faith Akin, a resident of Ondo State, who visited her mother in Lagos.

 

“We have a lot of customers coming with different girls to the hotel but on that fateful day, Mustapha came in about 5.00 pm and booked the room; after about 9.00pm, he brought in this lady and they stayed the night,” said the hotel attendant, who gave his name as Mathew.

“Early the next day, before I would hand over to the morning staff, I went round to check the rooms; [and] that was how I saw the lady lying down. I went to touch her but there was no response; I called out to Nura but he did not answer. It was when I came back the second time after I had informed the manager, that I saw the customer having sex with the corpse again; I tried to call his attention but he did not respond, so I went to call the police.”

Confusion at Police HQ – Retired AIGs Return to work, Order Newly Promoted AIGs out of Office

For the second week running, confusion has had the better of the Force Headquarters of the police in Abuja. While it has not got over the helicopter crash that killed DIG Haruna John and three other senior officers last week in Jos, Plateau State, yesterday was a different turn in the event of things.

The day that started normally later ended in confusion as the last batch of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) came back to the offices they left.

The return that looked like a hijack of the offices, was said to have been at the behest of the Presidency.

As the ex-AIGs came back, they all headed to the offices from where they left the service. Even those of them that served at the zonal divisions were also there in their official uniform.

 

The drama took the police headquarters unaware as the story making the rounds was that since the AIGs had challenged their ouster, they possibly got orders from powerful offices for their return pending when the matter would be resolved.

N15m Fraud Allegation: Jim Iyke Pleas Out Of Court Settlement

We can authoritatively report via NigeriaFilms, that popular actor, Jim Iyke has pleaded for an out of court settlement on an alleged N15 Million fraud brought against him by one Habiba Abubakar.

According to the information available to a source, Jim Iyke pleaded to settle the case out of court claiming he is a friend to Habiba.

We learnt that the controversial actor was absent in court when the case was heard on March 13, but made his plea known through his lawyer, Esther Uzoma.

Following Jim Iyke's absence in court, the prosecuting counsel called for a bench warrant issued against him, citing that the actor is deploying tactics to delay prosecution of the case. 
 

The Judge, Azubike Okeagu, then ordered Jim Iyke to appear before it on April 17 when the case would be heard again or risk arrest.

When Nigeriafilms put a call through to Jim Iyke to confirm this story, a man, who simply identified himself as his manager, told us that the case has been settled. 

You will recall that Jim Iyke was alleged of fraudulent act by Habiba Abubakar last year.

105-year-old Russian Who Survived Two World Wars Commits Suicide

A 105-year-old woman who survived the Russian Revolution and two world wars has committed suicide.

Anastasia Khoreva told her family she was tired of waiting to die shortly before hanging herself, The Sun reported.

The pensioner, from Darsun, Russia, had been depressed after suffering a lung infection.

A family member said: “It’s a strange thing to do at her time of life but she used to say she was fed up with waiting for death – so she wanted to go and meet it.”
