When the news of the duo’s possible break-up came up last week,it became worrisome to some pundits,especially their fans,seeing the two closest friends finally parting-ways,while others believe that it might be a publicity stunt designed to achieve a targeted goal.They described D’Banj and Don Jazzy as “ joint product” that cannot be separated for whatever interest.

Sources revealed that D’Banj was becoming too arrogant to everybody including Don-Jazzy, and efforts to curb him had been difficult.

LAREDO, Texas — A mother who had been denied welfare benefits killed herself and shot her two children after a seven-hour standoff at a government social services office, police said.

The children, a 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, were in critical condition Tuesday, Laredo police investigator Joe Baeza said.

The standoff began around 5 p.m. Monday afternoon. Baeza said the woman was speaking with two employees when she pulled out a gun and said she wanted to speak to a supervisor. When the supervisor arrived, he convinced her to let the employees go in exchange for keeping him.

Meanwhile, about 25 other people were moved to safety, police said.

Police negotiators stayed on the phone with the woman throughout the evening, but she kept hanging up. She let the supervisor go unharmed around 7:45, but stayed inside the office with her children. After hanging up the phone around 11:45, police heard three shots, and a SWAT team entered the building. Inside, they found her body and her two wounded children.

Niger Delta, northern leaders disagree over Jonathan’s alleged 2015 ambition

Notable groups in the Niger Delta region on Friday said they were ready for a showdown with northern leaders if the North continued to heat up the polity with “unfounded allegations and unreasonable demands.”

The groups responded to comments credited to the Coalition of Northern Leaders led by Dr. Junaid Mohammed, that the presidency was using the Justice Alfa Belgore Committee on Constitution Review to pursue tenure elongation.

The Ijaw National Congress, the umbrella body of the Ijaw nation, said although Jonathan had not declared his intention to remain in office beyond 2015, the constitution had given him the right to pursue a second term agenda.

The Chairman of the group, Chief Joshua Benamaisia, further asked the northern elite to stop the ongoing violence by the Boko Haram.

He noted that if the group continued to destabilise the first term of Jonathan’s office, he would seek a second tenure to enable him to realise his transformation agenda.

Reacting on behalf of the group, their National Chairman, Mr. Boniface Okozie, said the act setting up SEC made it its duty to protect the interest of the shareholders but lamented that the contrary had been the case.

A few days ago, the rumour mill buzzed with tales of an imminent break-up between the owners of Mo’Hits Records, Don Jazzy, and D’banj.

Tale-bearers even went as far as saying that Don Jazzy had moved out of the mansion they once shared in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

Don Jazzy was said to have found D’banj’s lifestyle unbearable and resolved not to work with him any longer.

In turn, D’banj allegedly accused Don Jazzy of delaying the release of his next album and giving excuses, though it took the producer just two days to produce Wande Coal’s new CD.

D’banj is said to have made several disparaging remarks about some of the artistes on the Mo’Hits label, whom he referred to as backup singers.

Former Rutgers University undergraduate Dharun Ravi, 20, shook his head as the verdict was returned at a court in the state of New Jersey.

His room-mate, Tyler Clementi, jumped to his death from a bridge in 2010.

The case attracted national attention, including comment from President Obama, and prompted anti-bullying measures.

Ravi was found guilty of 15 counts as a whole, including invasion of privacy and bias intimidation, which is a hate crime.

George Clooney arrested at Sudan embassy

How is your Friday going? Thank God it's Friday!!! However, I cannot say the same for our handsome American actor- George Clooney:

George Clooney has been arrested for civil disobedience during a demonstration outside Sudan's embassy in Washington DC on Friday.

The actor was taking part in a protest to warn of a humanitarian crisis in the volatile border area between Sudan and South Sudan.

 His father, Nick, was also detained but the pair have now been released.

George Clooney is a keen Sudan activist and has visited the area several times.

$100 fine Speaking to reporters following his release, he said: "Best estimate is tens of thousands of people are going to die from starvation... this isn't a famine, this is a man-made tragedy by the government of Khartoum to get these people to leave."

14 Year Old Boy Tourtured To Death By Employers...

This sad and horrible story, should serve as a deterrent to those parents who give up their children as domestic servants! How could another human being treat a child like this?

A 14-year-old boy, Oliver Arakwe, has allegedly been tortured to death by his employers, Elochukwu and Chiamaka Nnajiofor.

Arakwe died on Aug. 17, 2010 at the Eko General Hospital, Surulere, after he was allegedly tortured and beaten by Chiamaka for “misbehaving”. The testifying police officer told the court that:

“During our investigation, it was discovered that Chiamaka actually tortured the deceased and when we got to the crime scene, we discovered that he was kept in the toilet for two days”

“He was then brought out and asked to wash some clothes but he could not perform the task because he was very weak”.

According to him, this angered Chiamaka who then instructed another domestic-servant named Emmanuel, to flog him.

As pointed out on Day 1, I have never loved/liked the UK, but being here first hand, has changed my feeling towards her.

I used to think that the average British, was rigid (I know their legal system is not flexible) and too full of himself / herself but from my brief experiences so far and my couzins' experiences for almost 30 years, they are as warm and friendly as Nigerians..

 Before I give you a load down of the knowledge I acquired from my visit to the Windsor Castle yesterday, let me stress the importance of giving every human being we come in contact with, the benefit of a doubt. Never ever read/judge a book by just its cover.

 Open it, scan carefully through its contents and savour the pleasure of discovering all that is contained in each words of the book. In essence, People are never what they seem or claim to be. We must endevour to see them from our own eyes, after we must have given them a chance to prove their worth.

 Everybody deserves to be told that he or she is worthy and appreciated...

 Well, I had the most amazing, eye opening and uplifting experience just seeing the Country home of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the 11, the Queen of England. It is a tourist's delight! A show of British Historical Richness and Culture! I felt like I was watching "The Tudors'' all over again, as I walked through the entire Castle and its magnificent apartments! (The State Apartments)...

Source: PM News:The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Tuesday 13 March 2012 arraigned two former managers of United Bank for Africa Plc before a High Court of Delta State sitting in Warri.

The two accused persons, Aigbe Akhidenor and Onajite Enaworu, were arraigned before Justice Clara Achilefu on a 71-count charge of conspiracy to obtain money by false pretence, stealing and conspiracy to steal contrary to Section 516 of the Criminal Code cap 21, Vol. 1. Laws of Delta State, 2006.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Counsel to EFCC, G. K. Latona then asked the court to remand the accused in prison custody and fix a date for trial.

However, Marvel Odiedi, counsel to the first accused person asked the court to grant bail to the accused persons as the offence for which they were arraigned was bailable.

Two Nigerian house maids, Patience Okpara and Elizabeth Emmanuel threw away decency and fought openly at Ilupeju Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria over an Indian man.

Patience was bitter that Elizabeth started having affairs with the Indian she claimd was her sex partner and boss.

The fight resulted in Patience boiling a hot water adding pepper to it and pouring it on Elizabeth and she sustained severe burns.

The incident happened at 17, Sere Close, Ilupeju, Lagos, where both work as domestic servants to two Indians.

Both were arrested by the police at Ilupeju station.

It is really unbelievable seeing such a thing dangling noisily on a man's body. There have been a lot of stories concerning such occurrences, and most of them are tagged to two main point: either the guy is an hermaphrodite or he is just having hormone imbalances that results in this Gynecomastia you see. When hormone imbalances affect females they usually show some masculine features too like growing of beards, hairs on the chest, abnormal menstrual cycle etc.

Nigerian Student docked for wearing Army Camouflage

I could not stop laughing after I read this story...And he pled not guilty? Why do people attract troubles to themselves?

A 28-year-old student, Tijani Aliyu, has been arraigned before an Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court for wearing a Nigerian Army uniform.

Sgt. Ahmed Mohammed, prosecuting, told the court that the case was reported by one Ahmed Hamza of the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Guards Brigade, Asokoro, at Maitama Police station.

Mohammed said that some soldiers on patrol on 28 February arrested the accused, for wearing the Nigerian Army camouflage trouser to claim that he was a soldier.

He added that the camouflage trouser was recovered from the accused.

This story is not only disgusting, but extremely evil! What's going on in our society? This woman from her actions/multiple stab wounds on her husband, seems to have always wanted to kill him! Her actions shows a previous intention...But was just looking for the chance to do so...

What initially looked like a normal fight between a Nigerian couple over sex, turned bloody when the wife stabbed the husband several times, resulting in the untimely death of a 42-year-old man at Asokore Mampong in Kumasi.

Rashida Yetunde, 37, allegedly used a sharp knife to stab Maruuf Akinjobi three times in the chest, sending the stoutly-built man down, before stabbing him again on countless occasions in the abdomen when the deceased allegedly tried raping her.

The intestines of Maruuf gushed out as he bled profusely amid wailing for help in their locked room on Tuesday around 10:30p.m, the police told Daily Guide.

The suspect, after committing the heinous crime, left the man to his fate in the locked room, threw the knife into a nearby bush and fled with her five-year-old son in the dark to avert being apprehended.

Teen killed at party inspired by movie

A spring break rave in a Houston mansion that was meant to emulate a movie turned deadly early Wednesday morning after several attendees fired guns, killing one person as police tried to break up the party.

The unidentified male victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at Ben Taub General Hospital, Houston police told ABCNews.com.

The party, which attracted between 500 and 1,000 guests, was meant to copy the party thrown in "Project X".

The 2012 movie follows three high school students who throw the ultimate "anything goes" party that spirals out of control. While a damaged home and a bad hangover may be the only consequences partygoers faced in the movie, a string of copycat parties have caused over $100,000 in real damage, handfuls of arrests and the Houston fatality.

Daniel Menjivara, a 22-year-old college student, said "Project X" and the fact it was spring break were the reasons he and many others attended the Houston house party. Menjivara said he was "the exception" at the party and was surprised to find the crowd was mostly composed of teenagers.

"The house got pretty full. You could barely move around," he said.

The investigation by the House of Representatives of the Nigerian Capital Market took a dramatic twist on Thursday as the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ms. Arunma Oteh, accused the Chairman, House Committee on Capital Market and other Institutions, Mr. Herman Hembe, of corruption.

Oteh alleged that the committee had demanded N39m from SEC to fund the hearing.

“In asking the SEC to contribute N39m for this public hearing, don’t you think that you are undermining your capacity to carry out your duties?” She asked the chairman.

She also alleged that 24 hours before the hearing started on Wednesday, Hembe had demanded N5m from her.
Oteh said, “You also requested that we should provide at least N5m, which was a day before this public hearing started.

“I have raised issues regarding the credibility of the chairman, but that has not been addressed.

South Africa Rules Out Compensation For Deported Nigerians...

South African Government has ruled out the possibility of compensating the 125 Nigerians who were recently denied entry into the country.
Minister of Correctional Services, Mrs. Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, made known the position of her government in Abuja on Thursday.

Mapisa-Nqakula was in the Presidential Villa as the leader of an eight-man special delegation sent by President Jacob Zuma to formally apologise for the incident, which caused a diplomatic row between the two countries.

She said, “The issue of compensation is out of the question. We don’t understand why South Africa will have to compensate.

“We believe that it is enough that we have come out and apologised. It is enough that we have demonstrated our goodwill to the government of Nigeria; it is enough that the President has sent a special envoy to reiterate his commitment to the bi-national with Nigeria and to improve working relationship with Nigeria.”

She however said her country had commenced investigation into the activities of the airport officials who turned back the Nigerians on the gound that their Yellow Fever Vaccination Cards were fakes.

Kidnappers killed Franco Lamolinara and Chris McManus on Thursday last week while a raid to free them was under way, according to British government sources briefed on the matter.

The case drew criticism from top Italian officials, who questioned why Rome was not consulted before the operation, which was launched by Nigerian forces with support from Britain.

In an interview with CNN on Thursday, Jonathan said Nigerian authorities had worked with the British and other international intelligence agencies, but did not specify who the other nations were.

Lagos threatens to seize clothes in open places

As funny as this may sound to some people, it's a reasonable step to embark on.The Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment, Tunji Bello, on Wednesday said the state government would start to seize clothes spread on balcony railings along major highways, bridges, railings on landscape sites, walkways and other open public spaces in the state.

Bello said those who engaged in the uncivilised acts would not only forfeit the clothes to homes and orphanages; they would also be prosecuted according to the state sanitation laws.

The commissioner, who spoke while on an inspecting some areas in the state, said the government had been observing with concern that some public buildings, offices, bridges and residential buildings along major highways in the state, especially on Kingsway and Awolowo roads; First and Second Avenue, Ikoyi; Victoria Island; Apapa; Ikorodu Road and Ijora were engaging in the retrogressive culture.

Govt identifies 1,497 illegal routes to Nigeria

Federal Government has identified 1,497 irregular routes being used by illegal immigrants to gain entry into the country.

Minister of Interior, Mr. Abba Moro, said this at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday.
Moro said the development had made it difficult for the government to properly secure its international borders.

He said the government was concerned about the nation’s porous borders, especially when some of the illegal immigrants had been allegedly playing active roles in the security challenges facing the country.

He said, “There is no doubt that in any country, foreigners come in. There is no exception to that but when criminally-minded foreigners come into the country with legitimate papers, without proper travel documents, it becomes a concern for the government.

“Moreso, when these foreigners are alleged to be part of insecurity by participating in suicide bombings and some of the conflicts that we have on our hands, certainly it is a serious concern for the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“It is as a result of this concern that the Federal Government has started to increase attention to addressing this border porosity.”

Why banks may never sponsor Nollywood movies again!

Against the backdrop of criticism that Corporate Nigeria is refusing to contribute to the growth of the industry through partnership on film projects, a bank MD, who prefers anonymity said recently that it is difficult to work with an industry which is lacking in structure.

He said that although some Nollywood filmmakers are trying their best in the field, he described majority of the players as charlatans, who cannot put up an ordinary business proposal. He maintained that until the motion picture industry is structured properly, giving an example of the Motion Picture Practitioners Council (MOPPICON) bill that is yet to be passed into law, no financial institution would be willing to enter into a blind risk with the industry.

The bank boss recalled that in 2007, a set of Nollywood filmmakers were sponsored by Ecobank on a project tagged Project Nollywoood, saying that the partnership did not yield the desired results. He added that apart from piracy which did not enable returns on investment, the social objective of the project was not realised.

 It was a thing of shame and embarrassment as this top Akwa Ibom born actor and producer was caught on Valentine’s Day getting it down with an upcoming actress inside an abandoned car outside a hotel in the Uyo city center.

We gathered from a source on the spot that the married actor who is one of the big boys when it comes to movies in the South-South is a married man with three kids and those who saw him were really shocked that he could not even have the decency to get a room in the hotel to carry out his activities but preferred to have a quick one with the young girl in an abandoned car.

When rumour of an imminent break up between D'Banj and Don Jazzy broke last week, many fans of the two stars were surprised by the news, which caught them unawares.

Since the rumour last week, none of the two best friends have come out to talk on the rumour.

Though there are speculation in some quarters that the rumoured rift between the two is just a publicity stunt to prepared for D'Banj's album release in June this year, others disagree, claiming that D'Banj and Don Jazzy are truly no more in good terms.

In an interview with an American magazine, Ebony, the Kokomaster, as D'Banj is fondly called, told the tabloid, "I own Mohits."

Those with unknown long distance friends on Facebook may need to be wary as a female corps member is now in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over drug parcel sent by her London-based Facebook friend.

The lady had, at the weekend, received a telephone call from her London friend about the arrival of the parcel with instructions on whom to hand it to once she collected it.

The parcel had arrived Lagos enroute Abuja, at the weekend, but officials of the courier firm in collaboration with the drug police directed their Abuja office to ensure that the parcel was opened before the beneficiary was allowed to take it away.

The new commissioner for police in Lagos state, Umar Abubakar Manko, who assumed office on Monday, has warned commercial motorcycle riders to steer clear of routes from which they have been banned. In a press statement, Mr. Manko also urged residents of the city to cooperate with police officers to fight crime within the state.

Couple Found Dead Inside a Car In Kano, Nigeria.

A man and a woman, both in their twenties, were found dead inside a Peugeot 406 car today at Kundila quarters in Kano. The young man has been identified as Abubakar Abba by his brother Ahmad Lawan Maduwa who owns the car with the registration number AW 576 KMC while the young lady has also been identified as Ummul khair Muhammad. The cause of their deaths has not been ascertained.

Maduwa who spoke to Daily Trust said he gave his brother the car on Tuesday around 9pm and asked him to take it to a mechanic the following day (today).

He said he was woken up by a phone call from one of his friends, who told him that he had spotted his car and that soldiers and police men had the car surrounded and a crowd had also gathered.

It was gathered that the late Abubakr was a student of Saadatu Rimi college of education while the lady was said to be living with her mother in Kano.

Police spokesman Magaji Musa Majiya confirmed the incident and said the two corpses had indeed been identified. He also said an investigation had commenced to ascertain the cause of their deaths as no visible injuries were seen on them or any sign of torture.

I would again re interate that the madness by family members against their so called siblings is becoming a menace that should be critically addressed. Maybe a Law should be passed to limit their involvement in the affairs of a deceased who must have left a widow/children behind. I am a witness to the evil of pretentious family members, whose only aim is to fruadulently inherit what is rigthtfully for the children of the deceased.

More facts emerged yesterday on the last days of the late Mr Alex Uruemu Ibru, the frontline businessman and publisher of The Guardian, who died on November 28, last year.

The widow, Mrs Maiden Ibru, relived his last days in court where she has mounted a legal battle to wind up a company owned by her husband and his brother, Mr Goodie Ibru.

The matter came up at the Federal High Court, Lagos.

As Justice Okechukwu Okeke was about making his pronouncement on the submissions by the lawyers, he noticed that Mrs Ibru raised her hand, demanding to be allowed just two minutes to speak, a request the judge granted. At that point, the court went silent.

Pastor bags 21yrs jail term for defrauding applicants N.2m

ABUJA—NASARAWA State High Court sitting in Lafia has sentenced an Abuja-based pentecostal church Pastor, Mr. Bitrus Bakkat, to a 21-year imprisonment for defrauding two job seekers of N205,000.

The presiding judge, Justice S. Aboki, who gave the sentence without an option of fine, also ordered the pastor to pay back the money extorted from the applicants.

The convict was investigated, arrested and arraigned before the court on a three-count charge of fraud by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, following a report of fraud against him by Mr. Ugwueze Obinna and Mr. Philip Adejoh.

Trouble began last May when Pastor Bakkat collected N205,000.00 in tranches from Mr. Ugwueze Obinna and Mr. Philip Adejoh on the pretext that he would secure jobs for their relations at the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

Although he pleaded not guilty, when the matter came up for hearing, he was convicted upon trial and sentenced to seven years jail term on each of the three counts. According to the ruling, the sentence is to run concurrently.

A legal practitioner, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has asked the Federal Government to conduct a coroner inquest into the death of his client, Mr. Tiemkemfa Francis Osovwo (aka General Gbokos), while in the Kuje Prison, Abuja custody on March 2.

The deceased was among the accused persons on trial for the October 1, 2010 bombing.

Keyamo, in a letter to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Bello Adoke, and obtained by our correspondent on Wednesday, said he had the instructions of the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Philo Osovwo, to seek the inquest.

11 Vehicles burnt in an Auto Crash In Ojoo, Ibadan!

I am totally fed up with the deaths and disasters that we wake up to each day in this country! The worse part, is that these deaths and disasters, can be avoided if only our government would do the right things at the right time! Like repairing damaged roads, when funds have been made available for their repairs!

The Ojoo end of the Lagos- Ibadan expressway terminates the 110kilometre Oworonsoki-Lagos to Ojoo in Ibadan, Oyo State highway. Of the stretch, it’s the less than two kilometre Ojoo end of the road that remains uncompleted even after the road was opened 34 years ago. Work is still ongoing there but the spot remains notorious for fatal accidents.

As at Tuesday evening when Vanguard visited the spot, the latest contractor working on that section of the road, Messrs PW Nigeria was still watering the road, possibly getting ready for laying final asphalt.

Another crash again took place there around 2.a.m Wednesday that consumed a total of 11 vehicles. Thank God it took place in the night when human traffic on the road was minimal.
