THE simmering crisis over the vacant position of the Bursar of the University of Benin yesterday took a bizarre twist as two black coffins draped with red strip marks sandwiched by two earthen wares of sacrifice were deposited at the front gate of the official residence of the former Bursar of the University, Dr. May Ifeoma Nwoye .

According to Mrs. Nwoye, this incident is coming on the heels of a recent interview granted to media organizations by the former Bursar while responding to the deluge of allegations bothering on financial impropriety leveled against her by the Vice – Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Osayuki Oshiodin.

Mystery crocodile terrorises Lagos communities

I totally find this strange and extremely mysterious. What is the Local and State government doing about this crisis? What about the Environmental authorities? This sure is an environmental harzard isn't it?

Residents of Joshua Okeowo and Bepo Communities in Ikotun/Igando area of Lagos State have raised the alarm over the presence of a mystery crocodile in the area.

 Some of the residents told the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday that the reptile had lived in the area for 15 years and had constantly been tormenting them.

 “Honestly, we are tired of this crocodile. It has been around for some time and comes out from God-knows-where during the rainy season into the flooded streets to attack us.

“A number of residents had been attacked and seriously wounded by this animal. Only a fortnight ago, it was spotted swimming toward a school boy playing in the flood.

The movie is due to hit the cinemas on Friday, April 6.

Occupy Nigeria tasks Jonathan on security, good governance

I totally agree with the Kwara State Branch  of the Occupy Nigeria Group...The issues of insecurity and corruption are two major challenges facing the Nigerian people and threatening her economy.

Occupy Nigeria in Kwara State has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to improve on security of lives and property in the country.

According to a statement on Friday by the group’s publicity secretary, Mr. Bashi Araoye, Jonathan should show more commitment to the war on corruption in all sectors of the economy.

He stated that high level of corruption and huge cost of governance has continued to cause untold hardships to Nigerians.

He called on members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect and other groups involved in acts of militancy and terrorism to stop the killing of innocent people, adding that they should see human life as sacred.

6-Year-Old Autistic Boy & Twin Brother Drown 7 Months Apart

This is so sad and touching...The powerful connection between twins, is again confirmed in this story...

Twin brothers are dead after both drowning only months apart!

Christian Baucom, who was living with a Mennonite foster family in Colony, Missouri, was discovered after a small pond in a hog enclosure was drained, according to The Daily Mail.

“Some of the family members had mentioned before that the kids always had a fascination with the hogs, that he would go down there, so that’s one of the reasons we focused on that,” Lieutenant Nelson Elfrink said.

Christian’s brother, Jason, was found drowned in a pond at another home after wandering away from a group of children he was playing with.

Christian and Jason were placed in the custody of four Mennonite sisters at just two days old because their mother was (and still is) in prison.

“I’m sure their hopes was that we were going to have a better final outcome on this, but they were obviously distraught when we did locate him deceased,” Lieutenant Elfrink said about the Mennonite family.

It is because I am involved in other things. Film acting is part of show business. And it is not easy to do business and still act in the movies.

But I dedicate most of my time to acting because it is my first love. I have been able to succeed in life only through this platform. Although most of the movies I have appeared in are yet to be released, some are currently making waves in the market.

My recent movies currently in the market include Yellow Sisi, Shakara Babe and Shades of Shame. I may not be as active I used to be in the past, but I am still an actress. Abubakar succumbs to VIP pressure

Indications have emerged that the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, may have been prevailed upon by entrenched political and business interests to drop his planned withdrawal of police orderlies attached to private individuals.

SATURDAY PUNCH investigations showed that virtually all the previous IGs had made similar declaration to address the issue of the large number of policemen on private duties without success.

Abubakar had on February 13, 2012, ordered with immediate effect, the withdrawal of all approved police guards from private individuals and corporate bodies across the country.

The affected personnel include those given by the Special Protection Unit, the Mobile Police Unit and conventional policemen that were sent out as guards to companies and influential citizens.

Before her demise, Blessing Monday, 19, led a simple life. She was the last among six children of her parents and lived with her family at Illamija in Epe, Lagos.

On March 11, 2012, Blessing was on her father’s farm working, as she was wont to do, when she was attacked by her brother-in-law, Ime Titus.

CRIME DIGEST investigations show that the assailant had approached her while she was busy harvesting cassava in the farm and demanded to have sex with her.

Blessing’s refusal to yield to Titus’s demand had led to a scuffle. In the process, she slumped and died. But that did not stop him from going ahead to defile her.

Don’t buy kerosene from road side hawkers, NNPC warns Nigerians

A Word is enough for the wise...Wisdom, is the best defense mechanism... Please anyone that uses kerosine, should please yield to this advice.

The Nigerian national Petroleum corporation has warned users of kerosene to desist from buying the commodity from road side hawkers, to avoid purchasing adulterated product that can lead to explosion.

The Group General Manger (Public Affairs) of NNPC, Dr. Levi Ajuonuma, gave the warning on Friday in Abuja in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.

“We want to appeal to Nigerians to ensure they buy the product (kerosene) from designated outlets and filling stations to avoid adulterated product that could lead to explosion,” he said.

He gave the assurance that the kerosene imported into the country was of high quality and standard, and that any case of explosion might be an isolated case as a result of adulteration by hawkers.

Boko Haram attacks Yobe prison, frees 14 inmates

Suspected members of the Boko Haram sect have attacked a police station and a prison in Damagun, Yobe State and freed 14 inmates.

The attackers also destroyed a house used as a military outpost.

Three of the attackers and a policeman were killed in the attack late Wednesday while two other policemen were shot and injured, according to the spokesman of the state police command, Toyin Gbadegesin.

“The gunmen also burnt down a house used as a military post and an adjoining building housing some Korean doctors employed by the Yobe state government,” he told Agence France Presse.

A purported spokesman for Boko Haram told reporters in a conference call that the group was responsible for the attack.

Many residents of Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday expressed shock and sadness over the suicide committed by Mr. Olubunmi Olademo, a husband to a lecturer in the Religions Department of University of Ilorin, Prof. Oyeronke.

Olademo was said to have requested money from Oyeronke on Tuesday but the woman turned down the request which allegedly prompted the decease to commit suicide while his lifeless body was discovered in the family’s uncompleted building.

The Professor, our correspondent gathered, hails from Ikire, Irewole Local government of Osun State and was said to have been married to Mr. Gbenga Olajubu, who is an Osogbo-based politician and businessman.

Her first marriage with Olajubu was said to have hit the rocks over some irreconcilable differences few years ago and she later remarried to Olademo.

JAMB releases 2012 UTME results

If you participated in the last JAMB exams, then you should sit up and find out how you / your wards performed..

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has released the results of the 2012 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the results of 27,266 candidates across eight states were withheld for various reasons.

A total of 1,503,931 candidates were registered for the 2012 UTME, which held across the country on March 24, making it the one with the highest number of registered candidates since the existence of JAMB.

Contrary to earlier fears that the Boko Haram sect would disrupt the exam in some Northern states, JAMB Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, said the State Security Service and other security agencies had been engaged to deal with any security threat.

The exam proceeded on the set date without any security problem.

 In this exclusive interview with HipHop World, Don Jazzy reveals how he started making music with Mr Solek, how he met Kas, JJC ,and how he finally met D'banj and their relationship .He also revealed they almost sold Mo'Hits Records to Storm Records for 1 million naira.

D’Banj used to come to the studio in the JJC & 419 squad era.

I just saw him as very funny character and he used to always bug us; I need a beat, in Nigeria things are popping off. I was like; okay dude, sing, you can’t sing. What can you do, can you rap, no you can’t rap. But he could play the mouth organ, I liked the way he used to play the mouth organ and he was very funny, so he used to crack us up.

So we preferred to take him when we are going on shows on the road so that he would just be cracking us up.

He used to make the road trips short for us; that was basically why we were taking me. If you watch some videos on Youtube, when we are performing you will see him at the back with his mouth organ, he will just be shouting “kilonshele!”, so that people would notice him.

Another Nollywood Marriage Crumbles As Wife Kicks Prince James Uche Out

The wife should please remember how they were many years ago, before these difficult times...I would agree that it's not an easy situation for any woman but Marriage is a partnership that ideally should not come to an end except through death...

 This is not happy time for Nollywood actor, Tochi James Uche, who is also known as Prince James Uche, as he was recently thrown out of Gbagada home by his wife, Ekene.

According to sources, Prince James Uche was thrown out by his wife due to his inability to fend for his family anymore.

His wife, who is seamstress, we learnt has solely been taking care of the family for two years, due to an ailment the actor has been battling with.

In 2010, the actor was diagnosed of diabetes and hypertension. He later travelled to Abia State for further treatment to his ailment.

We also gathered that the actor came back to Lagos some weeks ago to find his wife fed up of his ordeal and has decided to kick him out of their rented Gbagada home.

The actor is presently squatting in a nearby church in Gbagada where he is presently seeking healing from.

The 27-year-old NBA pro filed documents in the Los Angeles courts March 29 that demand Kim, 31, reveal how much she made off their wedding and 72 day marriage and accuses her of “breaching fiduciary duty,” reports RadarOnline.

“A husband and wife are subject to the general rules governing fiduciary relationships which control the actions of persons occupying confidential relations to each other. This confidential relationship imposes a duty of the highest good faith and fair dealing on each spouse, and neither will take unfair advantage of each other,” the documents say.

Mother rapéd own daughter for 'séx education'

Incredible! Outrageous! Evil! Wicked! What must have made her do this evil thing to her own child? A mere child? How does one explain this evil under the sun?

 A mother of four who rapéd her 11-year-old daughter and filmed it as a form of "séx education" has been jailed for four years in Australia.

 The 37-year-old woman from Queensland's Sunshine Coast made three films using her mobile phone showing her raping her youngest child and exposed her to other séxual activity "in response to repeated questions,"


Judge John Robertson said séxual offenses against children by their own mothers were "rare," describing the relationship between mother and child as "seminal in our society."

He told the woman she had "no psychological or intellectual reason to explain this shocking behavior," as she had "a normal loving upbringing with parents and family who still support you."

The court heard that the woman started seeing the father of her four children — 16 years her senior — when she was "virtually a child" at age 14. She had her first child at 16.

She later began a cyber-séx relationship with a man and "became obsessed with séx." She would allow her daughter to view séxual videos the two sent to each other.

"From the start you characterized your behavior as some form of bizarre séx education with the child which did not involve séxual gratification from you... You were obsessed with séx and your life was in chaos," Robertson reportedly said.

He also said the mother, through her "selfish criminal conduct," had deprived her daughter of the right to "a wholesome and loving relationship with her mother."

Hotel deserted as seven die in Delta accident

This is so strange!!! And Sad! Are you thinking what I am thinking? Is this a case of possible ritual arrangements for money or other purposes?

Seven employees of a new hotel along the Ozoro-Asaba Expressway, Ellu, in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, were killed in a road accident on Wednesday.

The hotel said to be owned by a man nicknamed Oduduyekeyeke was deserted as the news of the death of the seven men, including the hotel manager, broke.

An eyewitness said the accident occurred around 8pm about a kilometre from the hotel.

The vehicle conveying the employees was said to be returning from a sensitisation rally organised by the management for the newly employed workers when it ran into a stationary lorry, killing seven out of the eight passengers in the bus.

A source in the family of one of the deceased said the death of the boys from Ozoro was ‘’suspicious’’.

Some civil society groups in Benin on Thursday protested against last week’s endorsement of Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s second-term bid by the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress in the state.

The New Nigerian Parliament and some other Edo-based civil society groups as early as 7am gathered at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre, from where they marched on the state capital.

One of the coordinators of the protest, Leo Martins, a former President of Ambrose Alli University Student Union Government, said youths and civil society groups in the state had lost confidence in the NLC and TUC.

N14.5bn pension scam: Suspects remanded in prison

An Abuja High Court on Thursday remanded six persons arrested for an alleged N14.5bn fraud in the administration of police pension funds in prison.

The suspects – Esai Dangabar; a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Niger Delta, Atiku Abubakar Kigo; Ahmed Inuwa Wada; John Yakubu Yusufu; Veronica Uloma Onyegbula and Sani Habila Zira – were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on 16 counts of conspiracy and criminal breach of trust.

The charge sheet read to the suspects in the court indicated that between January 2009 and June 2011, in Abuja, the accused persons, being public officers, allegedly diverted the sum of N14.5bn from the police pension funds domiciled in First Bank of Nigeria Plc, an offence punishable under Section 97 of the Penal Code Act, Cap 532, laws of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Nigeria 2007.

Army raids Boko Haram hideouts in Kaduna, arrests 65

 Nigerian Army has arrested no fewer than 65 suspects in Kaduna between Wednesday and Thursday in a renewed onslaught against the fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram.

While the soldiers arrested 33 suspected sect’s members on Wednesday at the Barnawa Complex of the city, 32 more suspects were picked up on Thursday in different parts of Kaduna metropolis.

Among those arrested, THE PUNCH learnt, were 19 nationals of Niger Republic while a vendor and a fried meat (suya) seller were equally rounded up.

Our correspondents learnt that the soldiers were acting under the instruction of the Army Headquarters to carry out the raids.

10 Arrested Over Varsity Mayhem

Ten persons have been arrested in connection with the mayhem that occurred at Benue State University Wednesday after a Dangote truck killed a man near the university.

This was disclosed to P.M.NEWS by ASP Ejike Alaribe, the Police Public Relations Officer, who added that the police are still working on information provided by the arrested hoodlums, so as to arrest others who were involved in the dastardly act which led to burning down of Board of Internal Revenue Service.

Trouble started when the students went on the rampage following the death of two of their colleagues allegedly shot by a police officer.

The students, Unogwu James, a 400 level student of Physics Department and Ayodele Emmanuel, a 100 level Biological Science student were allegedly shot by a police officer in the process of quelling a riot.

SSS Parades Suspected Kidnappers Of UAE Businessman

The State Security Service, SSS, on Thursday paraded seven men accused of being part of the gang that mastermind the kidnap of Mohammed Khamis Majed Ishmael AI Ali, a national of United Arab Emirates early this year.The suspects paraded by the security agency all aged between 22 and 33 years include Ojo Ibrahim Ajibade, Lamidi Akinkunmi, Olasunkanmi Temitope a.k.a. Rasky and Nuremi Lamidi.

The others include Siyanbade Musibau Olalekan, Saka Kashim and Jelili Ajagungbade Adeleke a.k.a. Owuye.

Popular Lagos Pastor Kidnapped

The police have deepened their search for a Lagos pastor who was abducted some few days ago while returning from a trip to Anambra State, southeast Nigeria.

Prophet Chris Okafor, head of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, in Ojodu, Lagos was held by kidnappers around Awka, after he rounded off a five-day crusade in the Anambra State capital.

The pastor’s security escort, who tried to fend off the criminals was reportedly shot and killed in a crossfire. The SUV in which they were riding was riddled with bullets but the pastor was unhurt.

The kidnappers were said to have later demanded a N50 million ransom payment before the pastor could be freed, according to a church member who confided in P.M. News.

25 Robbers On The Rampage, Rape Women

Robbers numbering about 25 this morning went on the rampage at Sonola and Muibi Streets in Ogba, a suburb of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, looting and raping women.

P.M.NEWS gathered from the victims that members of the gang divided themselves into several groups and raided from house to house.

Victims in each of the houses were dispossessed of their valuables such as cash, laptop, telephone sets, jewellery and wrist watches.

According to one of the victims, Tunde Rasheed, residing on Muibi Street, Ogba, the robbers struck at about 5.20 a.m.

Rasheed said 10 houses were raided on the two streets.

A victim who pleaded anonymity claimed an unspecified amount of money belonging to his church was stolen by the robbers.

Since his appointment as the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Abubakar, has strived to assure Nigerians that he can succeed where his predecessors failed.

He reshuffled the states Commissioners of Police. Then he met with the Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, Divisional Police Officers, Divisional crime Officers and urged them to be committed to their jobs or face sanctions. Yet, Nigerians remained sceptical.
