I am an MTN User (both my lines are) and you can begin to imagine how disappointed and dis satisfied I get most times...Well..Apart from ripping off the generality of Nigerians through its poor network services, fake promotions and bogus jamboree, the MTN is allegedly ripping off the Federal Government to the tune of billions of Naira through evading tax.

Those in the know claimed that the company has two account systems: one for its official and the other for its parent company in South-Africa. It was gathered that whatever they pay their staff is half of what is in their original books while the other half is laundered to South-Africa, in active connivance with some unscrupulous Nigerians who help to perpetrate the fraud.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has suspended its nationwide strike which grounded academic activities in public universities in the country for more than eight weeks. 

National President of ASUU, Prof. Ukachuckwu Awuzie, announced the suspension at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.

ASUU declared what it called a “total indefinite and comprehensive strike” on December 4, 2011, to prevail on government to implement the 2009 agreement it entered into with it.

Subsidy probe: Fraudulent marketers to make refunds, face trial

Many fraudulent marketers who collected fuel subsidues in 2011 may be compelled to make “a huge refund” to the Federal Government, according to preliminary findings by the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Subsidy Regime.

This is in addition to recommending that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission should prosecute such marketers for “fraudulent practices along with their collaborators in government agencies.”Investigations by THE PUNCH have shown that the committee had already identified some fuel contractors who allegedly made bogus claims as subsidies but could hardly convince members that they brought any products into the country.
