On Entertainment News Today, here's my favourite, courtesy The Punch Newspapers:Mo’Hits Records boss and popular producer, Don Jazzy, has apologized to Nigerian rappers over his recent comment in an interview with Hip Hop World magazine. In the latest among his expanding catalogue of verbal faux pas, Don Jazzy is quoted as saying, “If you decide that you want to do rap, there is one thing that you should put at the back of your mind; your parents are not proud of you whether you like it or not.”

This is sure an annoying but painful News, courtesy The Punch Newspapers:Three policemen attached to the Igando Police Division, allegedly killed two drivers at a road block for refusing to give them a bribe in the early hours of Wednesday.The development came less than a week after the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Muhammed Abubakar, ordered that no policeman should mount any roadblock again.It was learnt that after killing the drivers who were staff of Multiple Covenant Investment Limited, the policemen labeled them robbers.

More News courtesy of The Punch Newspapers:The umbrella body of Muslims in the North, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, on Thursday accused Christians in the region of disguising as Muslims to raze churches in order to create disharmony in the country.The JNI also warned all “Christian zealots in Nigeria” to stop taking for granted, Muslims who “constitute a majority of people living in the North.”But spokesman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the 19 Northern states and Abuja, Sunday Oibe, described the allegation by JNI as “baseless.”Oibe said it was unthinkable that Christians would disguise to burn churches in the North.

I am particularly thrilled with this news! Courtesy Punch Newspapers:The young Nigerian that attempted to bomb a United States-bound airliner in Detroit, Farouk Abdulmutallab, was on Thursday sentenced to life imprisonment without option of parole.

By no option of parole, Abdultallab’s sentencing is made mandatory. Parole, in the US criminal justice system, is the supervised release of a prisoner before the completion of their sentence in prison.Abdulmutallab, now known as “underwear bomber” was sentenced by a US District Judge, Nancy Edmunds, having found him guilty of terrorism charges.

The Action Congress of Nigeria has warned that growing attacks on judges by dissatisfied litigants may eventually destroy the judiciary, if allowed to persist.In a statement in Lagos on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said danger loomed the moment a judge could no longer feel safe enough to perform his duty because of the fear of being attacked by litigants.

I have always believed that "Honesty is the best Policy, and it must not be compromised because of people or situations" It has always been my strength (sticking to what I believe in, even getting hated for it) but recently, it has become a huge concern to me as supposed professionals and well respected individuals turn blind eye to stuffs that ordinarily requires a lot of integrity.

CBN explains N100m donation to Kano bomb victims

This post is a follow up most of us have been waiting for: The Central Bank of Nigeria on Tuesday explained why it donated N100m to victims of Boko Haram bomb blasts in Kano, saying the move was within the purview of its Corporate Social Responsibility.The explanation was in reaction to criticisms that had followed the donation since Friday when the apex bank boss, Mr. Lamido Sanusi, gave out the amount.Civil society groups had on Sunday slammed the CBN governor, wondering why he did not make similar donations to bomb blast victims in Borno, Yobe, Plateau and Adamawa states.

Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered the withdrawal of all approved police escort from private individuals and corporate bodies across the country.The affected personnel include those from Special Protection Unit, the Mobile Police Force and conventional policemen posted as guards to companies and individuals. Abubakar also directed that all intra-state and highway checkpoints which he said constituted nuisance on the roads of Lagos, Edo and South-Eastern states be dismantled and collapsed and brought them under the original structures recognized by police standards.
