25-year-old in court for electronics theft

Hello Friends!
More News from Punch Metro:

A 25-year-old, Jimoh Akeem, has been arraigned at an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court over an allegation that he stole video compact discs worth N2, 000.

The charge sheet stated that the accused stole the VCDs in Osogbo, adding that the offence was contrary to the Osun State Criminal Code.

Akeem, who was in court, entered a not-guilty plea to the one count of stealing.
His lawyer, Mr. O. Najite, applied for bail on his behalf, saying the offence was bailable.

The lawyer, who emphasised that the court held the discretion to grant bail, urged the court to admit the accused to bail on liberal terms.

He assured the court that the accused would provide credible sureties, stressing that Akeem would not jump bail.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Isiaka Ajadi, did not oppose the bail application.

The Magistrate, Mr. Olalekan Ijiyode, admitted the accused person to bail in the sum of 50,000 and one surety, and adjourned the case till April 27, 2012.
