Two charged with stealing N2.2m staff salary...

Two employees of a Lagos-based company were on Thursday brought before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing N2.2m belonging to the company.

   


The defendants, Sunday Adekunle, 26, and Abiola Onigbanjo, 28, are facing trial two counts of conspiracy and stealing, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Adekunle was living at 2, Akinola Adeniji off Medinat Estate, Lagos, while Onigbanjo was resident at 12, Peter Aremu, Street, Ikotun, Lagos.
The prosecutor, Julius Oyakhilome, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offences between May 2011 and January 2012 at Olugborogun town, Ajah area of Lekki.

Oyakhilome said the accused, who were pay officers of Strategic Outsourcing Nigeria Limited, Lagos, allegedly stole the sum of N2.2m during the payment of the company’s staff salaries.

He said the alleged offences contravened sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.

Magistrate A. F. Botoku granted each of the accused N500,000 bail with sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till April 4 for hearing.
