The police have arraigned a 27-year-old man, Jude Udechukwu, before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly beating up his landlord.
Udechukwu, of 41, Maronfolu Street, Yaba, Lagos, is facing one count of assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty, the News Agency of Nigeria stated.
The prosecutor, Emmanuel Ajayi, told the court that the accused, who claimed to be a web designer, beat up his landlord, Mr. Peter Uwazie, of the same address during an argument, leaving bruises on the landlord’s body.
Ajayi also alleged that the accused injured Uwazie’s elbow and hand by hitting him during the argument.
“The incident happened on March 14, 2012, at about 6pm at 41, Maronfolu Street, Akoka, which is the accused person’s residence.”
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Magistrate Oluwakemi Doja-Ojo granted the accused N50,000 bail with two sureties and adjourned the case till April 19 for mention.
