Obesere and the damaged jeep
Hello Friends!
We should join the friends and family menbers of Fuji Musical artisit Obesere, to thank God for sparing his life in a car crash...
Fate stepped in on Easter Sunday to rescue self-styled Paramount King of Music, Abass Akande Obesere, from crossing the threshold between life and death after surviving a horrendous car accident in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
Obesere was reported to be returning to Lagos around 8:30pm from a performance engagement in Ijebu Ode when his driver, Femi, lost the control of the Lexus jeep LX470 and careened into the bush where it rammed into a tree. Though all the occupants of the jeep – four of them – including the musician were injured, no life was lost. After getting first aid treatment in a nearby hospital, they were moved back to Lagos on Monday and are currently undergoing treatment at Orisunmade Hospital, Jakande Estate, Isolo, Lagos.
In a chat with Obesere days after the accident, he debunked insinuations that his driver must have been drunk. “Femi doesn’t take alcohol and when we go to shows like that I always give him time to rest and he doesn’t partake in our music performance.

I was even having a phone call with my eyes gazed at him when the jeep swerved into the bush. It was a terrible occurrence, but I thank God that nobody died.”
Through suppressed pains, he jocularly tells E-Punch that after the accident, he now wishes to be addressed as Jagaban in deference to the never-say-die spirit of the former Lagos State governor and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) party leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed, who he just released a commemorative album for.

Culled from The Punch.
