Boko Haram: ANPP, cleric seek solution

JTF takes battle to Boko Haram hideouts

Hello Friends!
Top on the news today, is this report courtesy The Punch:

DISTURBED by the bomb blast that claimed about 40 lives in Kaduna State, the Rivers State All Nigeria Peoples Party on Monday called on the Federal Government to begin a process of discussing with Boko Haram.

Also, the spiritual head of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide, Pastor Paul Maforikan, urged the government to find a lasting solution to the problem of insecurity in the country.

The ANPP said the continued killing of innocent Nigerians in the North was warrisome, insisting that dialogue between government and the sect could put an end to the attacks.

Chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Julius Nworfu, said the immediate solution was to embrace dialogue in order to save the lives and property.

He said, “We are disturbed by the incessant attacks from Boko Haram. If we cannot stop them immediately, the temporary measure is for the Federal Government to embrace dialogue and start talking with them.
“The attacks are becoming too much and if nothing is done diplomatically, the members of the Boko Haram sect may take the act of bombing to the next level. It is worrisome to see innocent Nigerians killed in such a gruesome manner.”

He attributed the emergence and activities of Boko Haram to politics, saying, “Since their activities were politically motivated, interacting with them could do the magic.”

Maforikan made his call for a solution to insecurity in the country in Ibadan during the ordination of Evangelist Kanmi Majolagbe at the CCC, Onipepeye, as part of activities marking the Easter celebration on Monday.

The cleric, who expressed worries on the continued bombings of innocent citizens by Boko Haram, said the government should stop treating the matter with kid gloves.

He said, “It is ungodly for anybody to take the life of another, particularly, innocents ones, worse still Christians in worship places.”

He called for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians and urged the people “to shun religious discrimination, and abhor violence, particularly killing of fellow human beings.”

He urged the perpetrators and their sponsors to stop what he described as heinous crime against humanity.
