NACOMYO faults church ‘gift’ to Jonathan...

Church gift

Hello Friends!
I totally do not see anything wrong in renovating a church! Talk more of the church in President's Jonathan's hometown... The Muslim Youths should concern themselves with making good examples of themselves as Muslims and see how they can contribute their quota in eradicating the Boko Haram menace in Nigeria...

Apex Muslim youth body, National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations, on Monday in Abeokuta, Ogun State decried the renovation of the church in President Goodluck Jonathan’s hometown by an Italian construction firm.

According to NACOMYO, such a gesture was at variance with the Federal Government’s anti-corruption crusade and also violated morality and eroded public confidence in the Jonathan administration.

The organisation in a statement by its National Secretary General, Alhaji Kamal’ Deen Akintunde, argued that the renovation of the church in the president’s hometown by the Italian firm was to curry favour and to “buy undue influence from government”.
NACOMYO added that the renovation of the church was reminiscent of the circumstances that surrounded the Presidential Library Project of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, stressing that such “forced charity” extended to incumbent political office holders negated the principles of good governance and accountability.

NACOMYO therefore urged Nigerian leaders to be above board in the discharge of their responsibilities of running the state.

“NACOMYO wants those in authority to avoid questionable act that could taint their leadership. They must shun corruption in any form and reject gifts that have coloration of corruption. It is by so doing that they can build trust in the political system and establish good governance which Nigerians are yearning for,” said the group.
