Govt distances self from Tejuoso Market fraud

Hello Friends!

I really don't get this denial by the State Government: Who is responsible for the allocation of the Contracts for the re construction of the Market? Did the contractors spring from space? Is the ministry of works and housing / infrastructure not responsible for this? Oya now, make EFCC handle the matter...

The Lagos State Government has dissociated itself from the alleged fraud by two contractors involved in the reconstruction of the popular Tejuosho Market in Yaba, Lagos.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Kadiri Hamzat, spoke on behalf of Lagos State during the ministerial briefing marking the first anniversary of the second term of Governor Babatunde Fashola’s administration in Ikeja.

Hamzat said since the state government was not directly funding the redevelopment of the market, there was no way it could be linked with the alleged fraud.
He said, “The alleged fraud rocking the market should not in any way be the business of the state government since it is not funding the project directly.

“But in the light of all that has been said about the issue, there is a need for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to unravel those behind the alleged fraud.”
