Police arrest woman for killing her mother

Hello Friends!
Here's some crazy news from the Western part of Nigeria. Why would a daughter do something so horrible to her own mother? Are any plans underway to organize a general mental evaluation of all the citizens of Nigeria? As crazy as this sounds, it's kind of the best way to reduce the rate at which people kill one another now. Especially family members...

The police have arrested a 38-year-old woman, Bolanle Abiola, for allegedly killing her septuagenarian mother in the Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Bolanle was arrested with an unidentified male accomplice for allegedly killing the 70-year-woman in the Pedepo area of Imeko.

The suspect, who trades in clothes in Abeokuta, the state capital, allegedly committed the crime about 9:00pm last Wednesday when she visited her mother in her residence at Imeko.

Family members who pleaded anonymity told SUNDAY PUNCH that Bolanle, who had often accused her mother of using diabolical means to prevent her from finding a suitor, once threatened to kill the septuagenarian over the matter.

According to the family members, Bolanle and the unidentified male companion had, on Wednesday night, arrived at her mother’s residence pretending to have come on a visit.

Thinking that the male companion was her daughter’s fiancĂ©, the deceased mother was said to have warmly welcomed the couple into her house.

Bolanle and her male accomplice then allegedly dragged the old woman out of her home and killed her before they both escaped into the bush while it was raining.

It was further learnt that Bolanle was arrested on Thursday when she attempted to flee the town in a commercial vehicle.

The first son of the deceased, Abudu, confirmed the killing of his mother by the suspects and added that Bolanle was the third of his late mother’s six children.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident.

“It’s true that Bolanle went to her mother’s house to slaughter her. She’s in our custody and she will soon appear in court. All those involved have been arrested,” he said.

In a related development, the men of the Ekiti State Police Command have started investigations into the disappearance of a 70-year-old man, Mr. Abiodun Adeleye.

The septuagenarian went to his farm in Igede-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area last Wednesday but did not return.
