Two armed robbers, who unleashed terror on some students of the Osun State Polytechnic at their hostel in Iree, have been arrested by a combined team of vigilante and police.
A statement by the Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Kalafite Adeyemi, on Monday, said one of the robbers identified simplify as Sunday, shot at the detectives that besieged the scene.
She said Sunday was later overpowered and arrested while his colleague identified as Temitope, fled the scene.
Adeyemi explained that the robbers attacked the hostel, “Seeker Lodge,” and dispossessed the students of 11 mobile phones, three wristwatches, one laptop, rings, necklaces, clothes, shoes and money.
The commissioner added that two masks, a locally made pistol, two cartridges, a knife, and a pair of gloves were recovered from the suspects.
“The arrested suspects would be charged to court immediately. The command is ready to fight crimes of all shades,” she said.
