Kidnapped bank GM released after payment of N25m ransom

LAGOS- ABDUCTED regional General Manager of Access bank, Mr. Yemi Odunsanya was in the early hours of Thursday released by his captors.

Sources said he was found at the front gate of the Victoria garden city, Ajah, an outskirt of Lagos in a stable health.

It was gathered that Odunsanya’s release followed payment of N25m by his relations and business associates.

However, it was not clear how the money was paid to the captors but sources said relations of the victim were sternly warned not to involve the police if they wanted their person alive.

A senior police sources told Vanguard that though the police was actively involved at the initial stage but had to back out after relations of the victim begged the police to allow them deal directly with the captors.

 According to the source, “when he was kidnapped on Sunday on his way to the church, we were actively involved, tracking their telephone conversations and all that. It was through this means that we were able to confirm that he was still kept within the Lekki/Aja axis.

“But when his life was being threatened, we were begged to allow them deal directly with the kidnappers. So this morning we were told that he has been released after the payment of N25m ransom”, the source explained.

Mr. Yemi Odunsanya was kidnapped in the morning of Sunday April 22, 2012 by unknown gunmen on his way to church at Badore area of Ajah.
