Hello Friends!
A cruel mother beat her seven-year-old son to death before torching his body to try to hide her crime, a court was told yesterday.
Sara Ege, 31, allegedly killed her son Yaseen by hitting him with a stick and then setting fire to the family home to disguise his murder, Cardiff Crown Court heard.
Police initially believed the house fire and Yaseen's death was an accident, but a post mortem examination showed 'a catalogue of systematic physical abuse' against the child.
Tragic: Little Yaseen Ege was allegedly beaten to death by his mother Sara before his body was torched, a court has been told
Prosecutor Ian Murphy said: 'Within days when the smoke had cleared it emerged that Yaseen was dead before the fire had started.
The court heard that Yaseen's death had been been caused by significant abdominal injuries.
Pathologists also found multiple non-accidental injuries on his body including broken ribs, a fractured arm and a fractured finger.
Mr Murphy added: 'The fire was started deliberately in the rear bedroom near where his body was found. He had been set on fire and dragged onto the landing.'
Ege was arrested after the post mortem and barbecue lighter fuel was found on her clothing.

Mr Murphy said: 'When interviewed by police she admitted she had been violent to Yaseen for a year.
'She said she had beaten him harshly with a stick on his back like a dog on many occasions.
'When asked if she had beat him that day, she said: 'I hit him most of the time. I can’t remember.'

The court heard Ege 'deliberately inflicted unlawful violence' on her son with the fatal blow some hours before he died.
Mr Murphy said: 'She made no attempt to seek the medical attention he so obviously needed. He clearly suffered terribly.
'She started the fire to hide what she had done.'
The court was also told that Yaseen had missed school earlier that day, but his parents initially blamed his absence on the fact that he 'didn’t have a teddy bear' for a special teddy bear's picnic party.
Police were called at 6.30pm to say the family’s house was on fire.
Firefighters were also called to the family home in Canton, Cardiff, in July 2010 where Yaseen’s body was found on the landing but doctors were unable to save him.
Sara Ege, of Pontcanna, Cardiff, denies the murder of her son.
His father taxi driver Yousuf Ege, 38, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of causing or allowing the death of a child through failing to stop his wife's beatings.
Mr Murphy claimed: 'The mother was cruel and violent the father knew about the violence.
'He saw the evidence of the catalogue of injuries suffered by his son but did not nothing to stop the pain and suffering received at the hands of his wife.'
The trial continues.
