Hello Friends!
A devoted son shot dead his mother and then himself because he could not bear to watch her suffer from her illness any longer, his girlfriend has said.
Ian Blakey and his mother Jean, who had Multiple Sclerosis (MS) were both discovered with shotgun wounds to their heads in a car, at Crook Golf Club, County Durham, on Saturday.
Ian’s devastated girlfriend Samantha Peacock has revealed she received a suicide note from the 34-year-old on the morning of his death.

‘He posted a suicide letter through my door on Saturday morning but I was out, so I didn’t get it until it was too late,’ said Samantha, 23, of Howden-le-Wear, near Crook.
Devastated: Samantha has spoken of how she received a suicide note from Ian on the morning of his death
I came home and went straight to his house and then the police station.
‘I was not the one to alert the police, Ian had rang 999 to let them know.
‘I gave the note straight to the police.
‘All I can remember it saying was it was not my fault and just to look after myself.’
Samantha, who had been with Ian for seven months, told how Ian was devoted to his mother but had found it hard watching her suffer over the years.
She said: ‘He must have thought it was the right thing to do for his mum.
‘He was very sick of seeing her suffer from her illness. He was there every day for her, they were close.
‘It just goes to show how close they were. I am just devastated. I just feel like I need answers but we are not going to get them.'
Samantha, who has a three-year-old son Brendan James, said she had seen Ian the night before he took his life and he seemed normal.
She said: ‘He had been perfect on Friday, I had no idea what was going to happen, nobody did.
‘I am just looking for signs I missed now.’
Samantha said she and Ian started growing close last year after attending an agricultural Show together.
But Samantha admitted she could not understand him taking his own life.
‘He has a gorgeous house and mates, he had everything, it was just something building up inside, I think,’ she said.

I just think if I had been in the house things could have been different.
‘There’s nothing we can do now, is there, not a thing. It is just heart-breaking.
‘Everyone knows he loved his mum to bits. He has just done what he thought was right.’
His neighbour of six years, Lindsey Wilkinson, meanwhile, described him as a lovely person.
Ms Wilkinson returned home from a two-week holiday in Florida on Saturday, having asked Mr Blakey, of Crook, to look after her home and pet dog while she was away.
She said: 'He has been fantastic. He is a lovely, friendly, generous person that would do anything for anybody.
'He was a lovely bloke and this has been a big shock, a horrible shock. I don't know what has gone on. He had a lot of friends. He was a lovely lad.'
Jean lived with her partner of 26 years, Harry Mawson, in Crook.
In a statement issued through Durham Police, Mr Mawson, 59, said: ‘Jean got up every morning with a smile on her face. She had MS but she didn't suffer from it and wasn't in pain.
‘She used a wheelchair but she wasn't housebound. She enjoyed going out for meals, and to pubs and barbecues with me and going to the day care centre.
‘Jean laughed a lot, she lived a full life and never talked about wanting to end it. She lived for me and her little dogs.
‘When Ian came to pick her up last Saturday she was so excited to be going out.
‘I still don't know exactly what happened or why it happened. What I do know is that I'll miss Jean every day.’Police found Ian and 55-year-old Jean at 11.35am on Saturday.
A full investigation has been launched and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Detectives are speaking to friends and family of Ian and Jean to establish the events leading up to their deaths. A report will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
Samantha added: ‘I do not know how I am going to move on. I do not have a clue.
‘He was just so well liked by everyone.’
