Gringori’s family demands apology from mockers

Iroha
Hello Friends!

Iroha popularly known as Gringori Akabogu was last weekend laid to rest in his country home in Amokwe Item, in Bende Local Government Area of Abia state.

Meanwhile, the family of the late actor seized the opportunity provided by Gringori’s rites of passage to refute reports that the late actor did not only die in penury but also, lived in a rented apartment in his Item native home.

Speaking at the burial ceremony, the head of Iroha family, Elder Nwokeocha Okpa Iroha said that his brother never lived in any rented apartment at Amokwe Item.

According to him, he lived in his personal house built in the 1980s and did not die in Item, but at a private hospital in Onitsha, Anambra state.

“Let me take this opportunity to correct the erroneous, negative and offensive comments made in some sections of the media about James, and by extension about my family, first that James lived and died in a rented apartment at his home town, it is a blatant lie.

“It is true that he lived in a rented apartment in Umuahia as civil servant, like other civil servants of his type, there is nothing wrong in that, for your information James built a modest bungalow in Amokwe Item in the 1980s which he called ‘Bush House’.

“This negative comment about James, by extension my family, is an indictment on my family, we demand an apology. The truth of the matter was that James was a civil servant, lived on a moderate income. One can say that James died in 2005 when his wife Betty died, as he was lonely, unhappy and frustrated with life”, Elder Okpa Iroha said.

In his homily before the internment, the Methodist Bishop in charge of Evangelism, Bishop Sunday Onuoha noted that in this trying times, Nigeria should embrace what Gringori stood for by making others smile and laugh instead of bringing tears and anguish.
