Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Mohammed Umar, said in Kaduna on Monday that the Nigerian Air Force was combat-ready and better equipped to confront internal or external security threat.
He said the personnel of the Nigerian Air Force would complement the efforts of other security services in protecting the lives and property of Nigerians, saying its fighter aircraft were 99 per cent ready to crush any threat or insurgence in the country.
At the inauguration of two blocks of 18 flats Airmen accommodation, 10 room self-contained Airmen Transit Quarter and an upgraded Officers Mess projects executed by the 335 Base Services Group of the Nigerian Air Force, Kaduna.
Umar said the force was better trained and equipped to tackle the threat by the Boko Haram sect and other terrorist groups in the country.
He said, “We are training and equipping our personnel to ensure that we key into the efforts of the other services. As you know, its not the air force alone that are keeping peace in the country. It is a joint operation with other services, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Police, and the Department of the State Security Services as well other organs or security agencies across the country.
“So we are in joint efforts to see that we contain this security challenge. As you can see, our aircrafts are serviceable.
“More than 99 per cent serviceability. Aircraft that you will see tomorrow and I am sure throughout the week, some of them are involved in facing and tackling this security challenges. And of course, we have also our air men and women who are also on the ground helping the army, navy and the police to tackle this challenge.”
