Hello Friends!
I guess "another one has bitten the dust?" How many more wives and husbands would have to die before people realize that marriage is not a do or die affair?
Let the accused dance to the music of the Law that she has begun to play...
A 25-year-old woman has been remanded in prison custody by an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court, Yaba, Lagos, for allegedly killing her husband.
Chikaodili Anakwe was arraigned on Wednesday for “unlawfully killing” her 40-year-old husband, Ifeanyi Anakwe, after a misunderstanding.
The police said the incident took place on February 16, 2012.
Chikaodili was arraigned on one count of murder before Magistrate O. Olatunji.
The charge reads in part, “That you (accused), on February 16 at 11pm at 32, Yusuf Erinfolami Street, Ago Okota, Lagos, committed the crime under Section 221 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos, 2011.”
The plea of the accused was not taken in court and she was remanded in prison custody.
His lawyer, Mr. Adinuso Iheonu, told the court that she had been on administrative bail since she was arrested because of her six-month-old child. He implored the court to grant her bail.
But Olatunji said the court had no jurisdiction to grant her bail until the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecution, was presented to the court.
The magistrate adjourned the case till June 6 for the DPP’s advice.
