Hello Friends!
Too shocked to comment!

Three siblings – Alira Fawole (32), Mukaila Fawole (29) and Nuibi Fawole (25) – have been remanded by an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly kidnapping a banker, Adeyeni Adeniji.

Adeniji, the Operations Manager of Guarantee Trust Bank Plc, Osogbo branch, was kidnapped while driving into his Ile-Ife residence on March 21, 2012, at about 9:30pm.

Two other siblings, Kingsley Emurotu (30) and Roland Emurotu (27), were also accused of demanding that Adeniji part with some of his valuables.

The charge sheet read before Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode, on Friday, said other accused in the case included Najeem Awotidoye (35), Saheed Adebayo (29), Elisha Arisekola(40) and Newton Augustin (30).

The accused are facing four counts of conspiracy, kidnapping, threat to life and unlawful possession of firearms. The offences were allegedly committed at the Prisons area, Kosere, Ile- Ife, Osun State.

“That you (accusedc ), demanded with menace the sum of N80m from Adeyemi Adeniji with a threat that he would be killed if he failed to offer you the money,” the charge sheet read in part.

Police prosecutor, Sgt. Elisha Olusegun, said the offences committed by the accused were contrary to and punishable under Section 6 (c) of the Robbery and Firearms Act, Cap RII Volume 14, Laws of the Federation, 2003.

Messrs Albert Okuovark, Seye Oluyombo and Ameachi Ngwu, represented the accused.

Ijiyode ordered the accused to apply for bail formally but remanded them in Ile-Ife prison custody till June 20 when the bail applications would be considered.

An indigene of Ile-Ife, Adeniji, who was riding his Toyota Camry 2011 model, was about to enter the gate of his residence in Oke-Ogbon area, when four suspected kidnappers swooped on him.

They ordered the banker, a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, out of the car and forced him at gunpoint into a Volkswagen Golf car and sped off.

Luck, however, ran out on the accused, when their vehicle developed a fault, forcing them to abandon it and snatch another one.

The delay allowed policemen and a vigilance group, which had been alerted by some residents about the kidnap, to catch up with them – as sy fled towards Ogudu, an Ife border village.

Two unidentified members of the gang were killed in the ensuing gun battle with the police.

Culled from Punch Metro.
