Ready to go: The final Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer has been released.

There are few things harder than saying goodbye at the end of a love affair.

So Twilight fans will surely be reaching for the nearest box of hankies now the record-breaking franchise is nearing a close.

The final trailer has just been released for Breaking Dawn: Part 2, and it seems the characters themselves are sad their adventures are nearly over.

Guest-stars: Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, director Bill Condon, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Jackson Rathbone all spoke onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards at Staples Center.

In one of the most telling moments of the trailer, Kristen Stewart as Bella Cullen says: 'Forever isn't as long as I hoped.'

However, it seems she recovered pretty quickly, swanning off to Toronto Film Festival this evening to promote her new film On The Road instead of taking to the stage at the VMAs with her co-stars.

The rest of the crew - Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, director Bill Condon, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Jackson Rathbone - all spoke onstage at the Staples Center ceremony.

Target: The Volturi mistakenly believe Renesmee is an immortal child rather than Bella's daughter.

Not messing about: The self-appointed vampire overlords turn up to destroy her.

The footage is a build-up to the gang's final face-off against the villainous Volturi vampires.

A major thrust of the film will be how Bella adjusts to being a vampire and a mother.

The newly married couple's honeymoon period is over, and danger is on the horizon when the Volturi learn of their daughter Renesmee's existence.

The self-anointed royalty of the vampire world decide the development has put the existence of their kind at risk, and decide they must be dealt with.

The Cullens rally support to save Renesmee, which seems to culminate in a climactic battle between Edward, Jacob and their assorted allies and the ancient coven.

Facing off: But Edward and his chums are not going to go down without a fight it seems.

Its fun being a vampire: Bella discovers she has developed super speed, strength and other talents.

Taking tips from the Legion of Doom? Edward and Bella have became a tag team worthy of the WWE.

At one point Edward even grabs Bella and throws her at an enemy, in a bizarre WWE style tag-team move.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 closes the book on the feature adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's hit romance series, and is set to arrive in theaters on November 16

Meanwhile, Kellan Lutz was spotted sitting on a bed as he promoted the Fashion Night Out at Bloomingdales in New York tonight.

Lutz of fun: Kellan seemed to be having a great time as he promoted Bloomingdales' Fashion Night Out.
