Bomb Scare Near Govt House, Asaba...

Hello Friends!

Civil servants who reported for duty early today were shocked when they discovered some packages believed to be Improvised Explosive Device at the Head of Service Secretariat, Asaba, Delta State capital, Southsouth Nigeria.
Reports by an online blog 274.com said workers at the secretariat, which is near the Government House at Asaba, were panic-stricken when they discovered the device early this morning. Many of them scampered for safety.

The strange find was promptly reported to the police who arrived the scene immediately and cordoned off the area. The police bomb disposal unit reportedly collected the suspected bomb devices for disposal.
It was gathered that an arrest had been made as the police picked up the gateman at the secretariat for interrogation.

However, sources close to the state government said it was doubtful if the devices were bombs.
A source said: “It is baffling why unknown persons will place explosives near the Government House. To achieve what aim?” he queried.

Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Muka, said the report he received was sketchy but the Assistant Inspector General, AIG, in the zone was scheduled to visit Delta State government today.

The state Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, is expected to address journalists on the incident later today.
