Less is more girls! Men say fake tan and thick make-up are the biggest turn offs on a date...

Hello Friends!

If you thought that thick make-up, lashings of fake tan and towering platform heels were a sure-fire way to impress a man, then it might be time for a re-think.

New research has revealed that far from being a winner with the opposite sex, overdoing the make-up and the St Tropez actually has the opposite effect.

Almost a third of men polled said that too much fake tan was off-putting and a similar number thought that heavy make-up was a real no-no.

Clothes, however, do matter, with 56 per cent of men saying that they appreciate a date making an effort with her clothes more than anything else.

However, the survey, which was carried out by dating website, Flirt.com, also found that extreme fashion was a passion killer, with a quarter of respondents saying that they weren't keen on girls dressed like front row favourites such as Anna Dello Russo and Lady Gaga.

Trendy shoes proved equally unpopular, with 25 per cent saying that clumpy platforms and flat brogues didn't tick their sartorial boxes.
Instead, classic looks fared the best with 50 per cent of men saying that the little black dress was the ideal date look, particularly when paired with heels.

While 47 per cent said they looked for designer labels, over half admitted that they can't tell the difference and would be happy to see their date in high street garb.

Another 47 per cent said they preferred a simple pair of skinny jeans and a figure-hugging blouse, teamed, of course, with low-key, natural make-up.
More than half, however, said they prefer their date to keep it simple and wear something casual and low key.
