‘I was told the plane landed on my brother’

Dana plane crash site

Hello Friends!

A man identified as James Okafor said on Monday that he lost his younger brother, Nwabuwa Okafor, to the plane crash that occurred in Iju Ishaga area of Lagos on Sunday.

Okafor said Nwabuwa was sleeping on the balcony in the upper region of the storey building when the plane crashed into the house.

He said, “On Sunday after he returned from church, he was resting at the balcony of the house where my sister, children and husband reside.I was told that the plane landed on him and he died in the process.”

According to him, he has yet come to terms with the development because it seemed he is in a dream world.

Okafor, who was unable to control his emotion as he spoke with our correspondent, said he would miss his brother deeply.

He added that the body of the 24-year-old Nwabuwa, who was from Isseke in Ihiala Local Government area of Anambra State, had been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching hospital Ikeja.

“Though he was riding an Okada (bike) until his death, he had great dreams. It is a pity that the incident suddenly shattered the dreams. My sister and his children were with a family who was holding a birthday party that Sunday. But for that, it would have been worse for us,” he stated.

He explained that his sister’s husband Mr. Chima Iloka, had his right arm damaged while trying to escape from the building.
