18 die in Kaduna crash

Hello Friends!

No fewer than 18 passengers died on the Kaduna-Abuja Road when an 18-seater commercial bus plunged into a river at Rijana Villages near Kaduna.
A BMW also plunged into a ditch, killing two persons on road.

The first accident occurred on Wednesday at about 9am, according to an eyewitness.
The Kaduna State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Olumike Olagunju, in an electronic message, said he sent a rescue team to the scene of the accident.
“Sixteen persons killed as vehicle plunged into a river at Rijana Village on Kaduna-Abuja highway,” read the SMS he sent to our correspondent.

However, the Corps Deputy Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, said two occupants of the BMW died in the accident. He added that the Sector Commander of the Kaduna unit visited the scene with his officers.

The accident, according to an eyewitness, caused heavy traffic on both sides of the highway.
