My Thoughts: I also got a BBM in respect to a possible Bomb blast at the NYSC Camp Bauchi yesterday...I was agitated and so enraged and kept on saying "I suspected something like this would happen, with all this "constitutional requirement for the NYSC programme!" At the expense of the lives / properties of our children, sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, mothers and fathers? Hell No!
It can be deferred please! Parents should take that responsibility and ensure their children are safe....Thank God it's just a rumor! Whew!
Bauchi State Government has debunked the rumor that the NYSC Orientation Camp in Wailo was bombed and a number of corps members killed.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Michael Adeyemi, the state government said the rumor was “baseless, unfounded”.
The statement added, “The rumor is the handiwork of a few people who are enemies of peace and who want to cause unnecessary panic among the people, particularly the corps members.
“The rumor is a mere figment of the imagination of the mongers. As a government we are committed to the protection of lives and property of every law-abiding citizen.
“Adequate security measures have been put in place and we are working with all security agencies in the state and the efforts is paying off as Bauchi State has remained peaceful, in spite of the security challenges the country is facing.”
The state coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Nuhu Kwaghe, also denied the rumour, saying “the orientation camp is safe and peaceful”.
