She has had a troubled few months culminating in yet another court appearance last week where she looked pale and stressed out. 

But Lindsay Lohan looked almost back to her best as she stepped out at the amfAR New York Gala on Wednesday night.

The star looked radiant with tumbling red curls and a sparkling metallic dress at Cipriani in the Wall Street area of Manhattan.

The stunning gown showed off the 26-year-old's slender figure and she teamed the ensemble with subtle silver jewellery.

Lindsay rubbed shoulders with a slew of celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Katharine McPhee and Cee Lo Green at the bash - held to benefit The Foundation for AIDS Research. 

The gala, which signalled the beginning of New York Fashion Week, is honouring Janet Jackson, Heidi Klum and designer Kenneth Cole for their exceptional contributions to the fight against AIDS.

Tired and stressed: Lindsay appeared in a LA court a week ago looking the worse for wear

Despite the star's stunning appearance on Wednesday, she still has a few legal troubles to get through. 

Lindsay is still on probation stemming from her no contest plea on charges relating to a necklace theft back in 2011. 

On January 30, she made a brief appearance in court where was told by the judge that she could still be found in violation of her probation - even if a jury finds her not guilty on charges relating to a car crash case from last summer. 

During the same court appearance, a judge set a trial date for the star over the case in which she is accused of lying to police and reckless driving, which she denies. 

After only just making it to court after claiming to have been suffering from illness, Lindsay looked tired and drawn during proceedings. 

The next hearing will be March 1 where motions will be filed, while the trial has been set for March 18.

Meanwhile, her career is also stalling, with her performance in Lifetime biopic Liz & Dick being slammed by critics and new movie The Canyons being rejected by trendy film festival South by South West.
