Hello Friends!
An employee of Mutual Benefit Life Assurance, Lagos, Mr. Nuhu Ahmed, has been brought before an Oshodi Magistrate’s Court over an alleged N1.54m fraud.
The police said Ahmed, 33, collected the said sum from the company’s customers being payments for insurance policies.
The police alleged that Ahmed converted the sum to his personal use rather than paying it into the company’s account.
The offence was said to have been committed between March 2010 and May this year at the company’s office on Town Planning Way, Ilupeju, Lagos.
Ahmed is standing trial on charges bordering on stealing and obtaining money under false pretence.
Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Kehinde Olatunde, told the court that the offences contravened sections 312 and 285 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Ahmed, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
Magistrate Osho Adebiyi admitted him to bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.
She said the sureties must be gainfully employed and must furnish the court with verifiable addresses.
