Boko Haram: Army trains special anti-terrorism squad

Soldiers

Hello Friends!

The Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Centre of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Jaji, near Kaduna, has concluded a special training for about 396 soldiers.

These soldiers are to tackle the current security challenges in the country, especially terrorist activities. NASI Commandant, Maj.-Gen. Kenneth Osuji, said at the graduation that the decision of the army authorities to train the soldiers was as result of the security situation in the country.

He said internal security in Nigeria had created challenges, which were alien to the country.

He said, “The most recent security challenge is the spate of bombings and armed attacks by some misguided elements in the society.

“It is apparent that these contemporary security challenges have brought out some grey areas in our doctrine in counter insurgency operations, which need to be immediately addressed in order to enhance the Nigerian Army’s operational efficiency.”

He urged the soldiers to put to practice the special skills they had received in the discharge of their duties and to exhibit a high sense of professionalism, dedication and responsibility.

Director of CTCOIN, Brig.-Gen. Tijani Golau, had earlier said the course participants were trained in the identification of Improvised Explosive Devices, cordon and search techniques, search and arrest procedures for both male and female suspects.
