Hello Friends!

One of Nigeria’s leading music producers, Michael Collins (aka Don Jazzy) has formed a new label, Mavin Records.

He has also signed four popular artistes, Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid and D’Prince.
Don Jazzy, who recently split with his business partner and co-founder of the rested label, Mo’Hits, Dapo Oyebanjo aka DBanj, announced on Twitter on Monday morning that he had set up the new label.

Tiwa is the first female artiste to be signed on the label while the others moved over from Mo’Hits.
The new label is expected to unveil a compilation album titled, ‘Solar Plexus,’ on Tuesday May 8 produced exclusively by Don Jazzy.
DBanj has since moved on G.O.O.D Music, owned by American hiphop star, Kanye West.

Before the current deal, Tiwa Savage was signed on to Sony USA Record Label. She is one of Nigeria’s hottest music divas, with a large following among the younger generation.

Sony USA Record Label is owned by Sony Music Entertainment and boast global brands such as Jimi Hendrix, Chris Brown, Avril Lavigne and the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
Don Jazzy featured in one of Tiwa’s hit tracks ‘Without my heart.’

On her Twitter handle on Monday morning, she still describes herself as an “artist, Sony/ATV songwriter and a blessed child of God.”

But there is a thumbnail of Mavin Records on her Twitter handle.
In recent interviews, Don Jazzy and D’Banj, blamed each other for the collapse of Mo’Hits due to irreconcilable personal differences.

D’Prince is Don Jazzy’s younger brother while the real name of Wande coal is Ojosipe Wande and Dr. Sid’s real name is Dr. Sidney Esiri.
More details later.
