Hello Friends!
I sincerely believe that the responsibility of protecting our children is both our and the government! This prevailing stories must stop if we want our children to live healthy and normal lives! Source Punch Newspapers:
The police on Thursday arraigned a 25-year-old man, Abdulrasaq Adeniyi, before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl (name withheld). Adeniyi, who works within the area where the girl’s school is situated in Phase 2 Estate, Lagos Island, allegedly lured her to his home at 31, Anikotamo Street, Lagos Island, after school hours on January 25 and forcibly had carnal knowledge of her.
The girl’s mother, Munirat, told the court that she looked everywhere for her daughter when she did not return from school after 4pm. Munirat said, “It’s unusual for my daughter not to get back from school before 4pm.I tried looking for her when I couldn't see her traces but she was still nowhere to be found. “She later came home herself around 8pm.When I asked her about her whereabouts, she told me Adeniyi lured her to his house after close of school and raped her.”
According to the charge sheet which was read to the accused in court, the offence is punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011. Adeniyi, however, pleaded not guilty to the one count of rape preferred against him. His lawyer, Mr. Darnell Abbe, made an oral bail application and urged the court to grant it on liberal terms.
Magistrate O.A. Layinka admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. She added that one of the sureties must be a Lagos State civil servant not below Grade 10 while the other one must also be gainfully employed.
The sureties are expected to furnish the court with verifiable official and residential addresses as well as evidence of tax payment to the state government for the past five years.
The case has been adjourned till April 15 for further hearing.
Last Words: The madness amongst men who behave as he-goats still persists! Like I suggested yesterday, a thorough mental evaluation should be carried on most citizens, because it's obvious that there is some level of madness evident in our society...This is my opinion. I have never agreed to letting young children go to school and return by themselves! A trusted adult should always be assigned to do this. Especially in a society where you have "seemingly sane mad men", like the accused in this case and many more who delight in raping children!
XOXO
