Four UNIJOS students arrested for armed robbery

Four students of the University of Jos have been arrested by men of the Special Task Force on security in Jos (aka Operation Safe Haven) for alleged armed robbery.The students were alleged to have snatched a Toyota Matrix car from a lady in Dadin Kowa area of Jos South Local Government Area.

The offence was said to have been committed while they were armed with three locally-made pistols.
Spokesman of the STF, Capt. Mdahyelya Markus, while parading the suspects at the STF headquarters in Jos on Tuesday, before they were handed over to the police, said around 11pm on Monday, soldiers at a checkpoint at Jingre in Bassa Local Government Area arrested the students.

He gave the names of the students as Kingsley Agbonlahor, Nankum Durdan and Elijah Nimyel, adding that they were arrested while driving the stolen car, with registration number PKN 88 AA.
He said, on interrogation, they admitted they snatched the car from Mrs. Nansik Moses at gunpoint.

Markus said further interrogation led to the arrest of the fourth suspect, Charles Martin, said to be the gang leader.He added that the operatives also arrested Bali Joshua, who impersonated an army sergeant.The STF spokesman said all the suspects had been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
