Ondo monarch’s wife arraigned for fighting

Hello Friends!

Wife of the Olusupare of Supare-Akoko, in Ondo State, Mrs. Sefiat Adedeji, was on Thursday arraigned before a chief magistrate’s court for allegedly fighting in public.
Sefiat was accused of fighting Mrs. Comfort Awogbamila on May 4, 2012.

Part of the charge against her reads, “That you, Comfort Awogbami and Olori Sefifat Adedeji, on May 4, 2012, at about 8pm at Supare Magisterial District unlawfully involved yourself in fighting in public at Ugbe quarters, Supare Akoko, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 83 of the Criminal Code cap 37 Vol II, laws of Ondo State.”

The monarch’s wife and her co-accused were also charged with conduct likely to cause breach of the peace contrary and punishable under Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol II laws of the state.
Police Prosecutor, Steven Dickson, said there are four witnesses that would testify against the accused and that he was ready to proceed with the case.

But counsel to the monarch’s wife, Mr. Bayo Olorunmeke, said he had not been served with the charge preferred against his client.
Similarly, the counsel to the co-accused, Mr. Duro Adonis, said he had just been briefed and needed time to study the case and organise his witnesses.

The Chief Magistrate, Olubunmi Olujuyigbe, however fixed June 7 for the hearing of the case.
