Tinubu charges Jonathan on MAULAG

Hello Friends!

LAGOS — Following the controversy trailing the renaming of University of Lagos, UNILAG, to Moshood Abiola University, MAULAG, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to listen to the people, while implementing his policies.

Tinubu, while fielding questions from her constituents on the legality of the name-change, during the third edition of Lagos Central Senatorial District Town Hall meeting and presentation of her first year report, in Lagos, said President Jonathan had written the Senate to give the name-change legal backing, stressing that she would not comment on the issue, as it was yet to be discussed on the floor of the Senate.

“I won’t say much on this matter. All I can say is that President Jonathan should listen to the people and give them what they want. That is how to be a true democrat. Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State has done it. He had shown that he is a true democrat by recalling the 788 sacked Lagos doctors. I want President Jonathan to follow lead and do what is necessary.”

She noted that though, no honour would be enough to compensate Basorun Moshood Abiola for what he fought for with his life, every action of government should be people-oriented, adding that doing so would be the best way to honour the late politician.
