We thank God for sparing the lives of the Students during the fire at UNILAG:
Fire gutted the three-storey Faculty of Sciences building of the University of Lagos, Akoka, on Tuesday.
It was gathered that the fire started at about 6am. It affected the departments of Mathematics and Physics, which are on the second and third floors.
Academic materials, electronic appliances, furniture, personal effects and other belongings were burnt in the two affected floors.
A combined team of firefighters from the UNILAG Fire Service, Federal Fire Service, Lagos State Fire Service and Union Bank of Nigeria Fire and Rescue Unit combated the fire and put it out at about 9:55am.
No life was lost in the incident.
“The university assures the students that the incident will not disrupt academic activities especially the forthcoming examinations.”
When asked what could have caused the fire incident, Alaga declined comment.
