Hello Friends!
I just couldn't believe my eyes when I came across the headline on Page 2 of the Punch Newspaper of Thursday 5 January 2012 (today).
"...Rising from an emergency meeting on Wednesday 4 January 2012, the Federal Executive Council, insisted that it would not budge on the deregulation of the downstream oil sector and removal of subsidy..."
For people like me who do not have the patience to want to find out why this is the present feeling of a government who:
- Lost hundreds of her citizens to a bomb blast in a CHURCH on Christmas day ( terrorism at its ugliest),
- Is yet to tackle the situation of Insecurity among her citizens and boarders,
- Is yet to curb the issues of Bribery and massive Corruption among her leaders in all levels of government,
- Is grossly in sensitive to the CRIES AND PAINS of her citizens who in hope and faith in Democracy, voted them into power,
- Is yet to understand the true meaning of Democracy in all totality,
- Steals from Peter to pay Paul (innocent expression)
- Understands nothing (or little) of what the supreme Law of the Land states (The Constitution).
Need I say more? My Heart Bleeds for Nigeria...
As at yesterday, the Nigerian Labour Congress declared a nationwide strike to commence on Monday the 9 of January, 2012. This however, is an indefinite strike!
Where do we (citizens and owners of this Green Land) stand? There is a parable that says "when two elephants / giants fight, it is the ground on which they fight, that suffers!!!
If either party would only listen and consider the Green Land in this case: YOU & I, then we would be hopeful that something positive and worth our while would come out of this whole fiasco!
I totally support a clean and peaceful protest but please for the sake of the Country and its citizens that we hold dear to our hearts, the Federal Government should just LISTEN.
Every man, woman, boy or girl that has a direct or in direct link to the removal of the oil subsidy or its aftermath, should listen to the VOICE of Nigerians through the NLC.
President GEJ should separate himself for just a moment and be quite in his mind....Let him think and ponder....WISDOM would come.
The Bible states that "In the multitude of Counsel, there is safety"...I have a voice just as much as the man or woman in ASO ROCK. Let us all be heard and given the same chance to speak and be listened to...
For the very first time in my 32 years on earth, I totally believe in this strike. Don't mis understand me (I have always believed in a good and just cause) but my heart is glued to the authenticity and reasonableness of this strike.
So, I have resolved to just play my part (which I am presently doing), sit back in protest and expect a change of the status quo.
I sincerely appeal that these times should be viewed and considered wisely in all fear for God and humane feeling for our fellow Nigerians. Do not use this chance to kill, steal or destroy lives or properties of innocent Nigerians like yourselves... We are all affected by this and we feel the pain in different areas of our lives.
My deepest prayers go to the families of those who lost their loved ones on Christmas day. I cannot begin to imagine what must be going through their minds right now, but may God keep them safe and alive long enough to continue from where their loved ones stopped...
The Locust has eaten...But God will surely restore...
"When I despair, I remember that all through history, the way of Truth and Love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time, they seem invincible. But in the end, they always fall. Think of it always"... Mahatma Gandhi.
