Queen Latifah‘s latest show must have been quite liberating for her. At the 2012 Long Beach Pride event in California last weekend, the 42-year-old award-winning singer, rapper and actress officially came out as gay.
Queen Latifah performed at Long Beach Gay Pride and publicly came out as lesbian for the first time with a big, telling gesture on Saturday.
Truthquake staff was in the audience to watch her rap, sing and offer some supportive information as the headliner for the LGBT festival.

In the moment between songs, she points to the crowd with two fingers and back and forth to her eyes, then she spins her fingers around in a circle, she pounds her heart area on her chest and makes a shhh (silence) gesture with her index finger to indicate that the LGBT crowd and she are the same, and her gay orientation is a secret between them and her.
Most of the audience missed the event because it was a non-verbal gesture.

Queen Latifah performed for an hour and a half from 8:30 to 10 pm to a crowd of about 1,000 people in the parking lot overlooking the ocean.
She told the LGBT people to “keep your support system tight,” since LGBT people are many times confronted by bigotry.
During the concert, she had fun with having the crowd interact with the performance.
