"Dumb and Dumber To" has been kicked to the curb, making for the latest blow to Jim Carrey's career.

Warner Bros.' decision to pass on the "Dumb and Dumber" sequel comes hot on the heels of the box office failure of "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," a film that had a similar budget but grossed only $22 million domestically. Carrey received good reviews for his portrayal of a Criss Angel-like street magician but the film failed to connect with audiences.

Writer-directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly will have to look elsewhere in continuing the misadventures of Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey), as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that WB passed on giving the greenlight to "Dumb and Dumber To," the long in-development sequel to the 1994 hit comedy.

The writer-director sibling duo are shopping the project out to other studios, which finds Harry and Lloyd hitting the road in search of Harry's illegitimate daughter ... and completely ignores the much-reviled 2003 prequel, "Dumb & Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd."

Carrey, a box office powerhouse who could command $20 million per film back in the '90s and early '00s, has been having a rough time of it lately. His last starring vehicle was "Mr. Popper's Penguins," which was released two years ago this month and only earned $68 million domestic on a budget of $55 million. 

Despite the fact that he's always an engaging performer and also does well in edgier projects such as "I Love You Phillip Morris" (2008) and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (2004), Carrey just doesn't have the mainstream appeal that he used to.

The 51-year-old actor will next be seen in a supporting role as mobster turned vigilante Colonel Stars and Stripes in "Kick-Ass 2," opening August 16. He is also set to star alongside Owen Wilson in a yet-to-be-titled bank heist comedy.

Meanwhile, Carrey's "Dumb and Dumber" pal Jeff Daniels is gearing up for Season Two of "The Newsroom," which premieres on HBO on July 14.

An Islamic group shot dead a Syrian 14-year-old boy in front of his parents for blasphemy after overhearing him say he 'wouldn't even give the Prophet a free coffee.'

Mohammad Qataa was shot in the face and neck a day after being seized by members of an Al Qaeda-linked Islamist group in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. 

A photo released by the Observatory showed Qataa's face with his mouth and jaw bloodied and destroyed as well as a bullet wound in his neck.

An image grab taken from Syria's official television channel al-Ikhbariya reportedly shows the body of 14-year old Mohammad after he was shot dead...

Today it emerged Qataa was working as a street vendor in the al-Shaa district of Aleppo when three members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, a militant group that started off known as the Nusra Front, overheard him arguing with a friend over a bill.

It is thought the boy had given his friend a coffee which the friend wanted to pay for later.

'Mohammad Qataa was working at his street trolley and remarked to his friend that even if the Prophet Mohammad came down he would not give him credit,' said Rami Abdulrahman, who heads the UK-based human rights group, told The Times.

The three fighters overheard and accused the teenager of blasphemy and insulting the prophet.

The gunmen took Qataa on Saturday and brought him back alive in the early hours of Sunday to his wooden stand, with whiplash marks visible on his body.

Family members of Nelson Mandela including ex-wife Winnie are gathering at the bedside of the former South African leader as he spends his fourth consecutive day in hospital.

The former president, who will be 95 next month, remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital in Pretoria where he was taken on Saturday after experiencing breathing difficulties. 

Winnie Mandela, 76, who was married to Mr Mandela for almost 40 years between 1957 and 1996, spent around an hour at her ex-husband's bedside in Pretoria yesterday afternoon.

President Jacob Zuma was seen placing a hand on Mr Mandela's, following his release from hospital in April...

One of their daughters Zindziwa, 52, has also visited him in intensive care. She told the South African Guardian: 'I’ve seen my father and he’s well. He’s a fighter.'

Their other daughter Zenani, 53, has flown home from Argentina, where she is South Africa’s ambassador, to be at his bedside along with his third wife Graca Machel and other family members.

Mr Mandela's wife, Graca Machel, who accompanied him to hospital on Saturday, cancelled a scheduled appearance in London so she could stay with her husband.

Yesterday the family of the iconic former leader denied barring government officials and high-ranking members of the ANC from his bedside, a government spokesman said.   

'We have spoken to the family about this report and they deny that they issued such an instruction or spoke to the media on barring the ANC and government from visiting Madiba,' said spokesperson Jackson Mthembu in a statement.

The boyfriend of a Bollywood actress who was found dead at her home in Mumbai has been arrested on suspicion of abetting her suicide.

Jiah Khan, 25, was last week found hanged by her mother at their apartment in the Indian city. Police said no suicide note was found.

Suraj Pancholi, 21, the son of famous Bollywood actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was arrested late yesterday. He had been Khan's boyfriend for about a year and was the last person to see her alive.

Officer D Deokar said Suraj Pancholi, confirmed that Khan committed suicide at her home in Mumbai last week. 

Khan began her career in the 2007 Hindi film Nishabd, in which she portrayed a teenager in love with her best friend's father, played by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. 

She also performed with other top stars, including Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar.

A man who fell from a bridge and was declared dead was taken to a mortuary - where staff were shocked to realise he still had a pulse.

The unnamed man in his 40s was certified as dead by paramedics soon after falling more than 100ft from Kessock Bridge in Inverness - a notorious suicide spot - on Friday night.

He was not examined by doctors, and was instead taken directly to the mortuary at Raigmore Hospital.

When workers found a pulse on the supposed corpse, they summoned paramedics once again, but attempts to resuscitate the man proved unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead for the second time.

An investigation has now been launched into the worrying incident.

The man had been in the water for 10 minutes when he was retrieved by a lifeboat and taken to Inverness Marina.

Although an ambulance crew attempted to revive him, they believed they had failed.

Last night Conservative MSP Mary Scanlon called for a thorough inquiry to be undertaken and the results made public in full.

'Any death is a tragedy for the family but the circumstances surrounding this death will undoubtedly raise questions as to whether this person could have perhaps survived,' she said. 

'It is a shocking story for our ambulance service who have the highest level of training and exercise quality care every day of the year. It is so shocking because it is so rare to hear of anything like this. 

'A very clear explanation and a very thorough inquiry must be carried out.'

The Crown Office, which is responsible for investigating suspicious deaths, confirmed that it was involved in the case.

'The investigation into the death, under the direction of Scottish Fatalities Investigation Unit, is ongoing and the family will continue to be kept updated in relation to any significant developments,' a spokesman said.

It should be one of the happiest and proudest times of his life as he eagerly awaits the birth of his first child next month.

But it seems that Kanye West just can't raise a smile.

The rapper has been looking particularly miserable of late and was spotted looking even more grumpy than usual as he walked along the streets of New York on Monday evening.

He covered his head with his grey hooded top and looked down as he grumpily sauntered along.

It seemed like the 36-year-old was more agitated than usual as he reportedly lashed out and yelled at a nearby videographer who was taping his every move.

It's just one in a line of altercations for the rapper recently as he seems to be getting increasingly fed up with the heightened interest in his life since starting to date Kim Kardashian.

While Kim seems to revel in the attention and cope with the scores of photographers trying to catch a glimpse of her, Kanye doesn't seem to be enjoying it so much.

Keeping his head down: He's currently in New York while Kim is stuck in Los Angeles while she isn't able to fly...

He was a huge superstar before he dated Kim but he's only recently experienced what it's like to be tabloid fodder.

And he even seems to be distancing himself from the Kardashian clan more and more despite becoming a part of their family.

When Kanye first started dating Kim last year he seemed to embrace their fame and what went with it, even agreeing to appear on their reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians to show his support for her.

Aggravated: While the Kardashians seem to enjoy the attention, Kanye hasn't been coping too well with the heightened interest in his private life, reportedly yelling at a videographer this weekend...

He even spent his 36th birthday last week away from Kim.

While pals like Beyonce and Jay-Z were on hand at the party in New York City, Kanye's girlfriend of more than one year was noticeably absent - stuck Los Angeles because she is no longer able to travel by plane ahead of the birth of their first child next month.

Guys' Opinion: Keep the Makeup Simple and the Clothes Simpler...

When some guy is en route to pick you up and you're hurrying to finish slapping on your war paint, remember that less is actually more. 

It's becoming increasingly clear that bold and daring makeup trends — last year's purple, this year's oxblood and black — are more for the benefit of bar-hopping with your girlfriends than they are for date night. 

A study reported in the Daily Mail says that almost a third of dudes are turned off by "heavy makeup." (Let's face it — if a normally-clueless guy can even see your makeup, that might be a problem.) Same goes for too-dark tans (sorry, Lindsay — not that you've got the option to tan right now). And you shouldn't be getting those anyway! 

Guys' outfit preferences are similar as well: 56 percent of them consider clothes important for a girl, but don't like trendy shoes, or anything too haute couture — simple jeans or a little black dress, they said, was generally ideal. 

That said, there's an argument on behalf of wearing whatever the hell you want on a first date: Take my go-to outfit, which is a vintage Groucho Marx t-shirt, jeans, and sometimes (gasp) "weird," "high-fashion" wedges. 

I'm feeling really crazy, I'll even put on some bright eye shadow  For many of us, fashion reflects who we are — and if you're just not the jeans-and-heels type, it's better to get that over with up front so that he can go find someone who is — and you can go find someone who will love you for your crazy Shosh hats or the barrel with suspenders you like to wear around the house. 

Perhaps this is the best rebuttal: Lady Gaga once wore a dress made of Kermits, and she's currently engaged to this guy. So I say let your sartorial freak flag fly.
