Slain banker had over 76 stab wounds –Pathologist...

Banker, Titilayo Arowolo, who was allegedly murdered by his 31-year-old husband, Akolade, on June 24, 2011, had a minimum of 76 stab wounds, Prof. John Fafunwa, of the Department of Pathology, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, has said.

Fafunwa told an Ikeja High Court on Monday that he carried out the post-mortem examination alongside a Consultant Pathologist, Dr. Sunday Soyemi, and a trainee pathologist identified simply as Dr. Lawal.

He said Titilayo’s body was brought to LASUTH on June 25 putting on a pink sleeveless top and blue jean trousers, adding that he did the body identification on July 4, 2011 and the autopsy on July 6, 2011.

Fafunwa while being led in evidence by the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs. Olabisi Ogungbesan, said the wounds were more than 76, adding that he had to group similar wounds. He said, “During examination, it was discovered that the deceased sustained multiple stab and incised wounds on her face, chest, the left and right arm, heart, lungs, liver, eyes, abdomen, and chest.

“The wounds were a minimum of 76 as some similar ones were grouped together. Also, from our examination, all the injuries couldn't have been self-inflicted because such would have caused so much damage that at a point the deceased would have dropped the knife.

“After removing the affected internal organs and the blood collected in the chest cavity, I observed defects in the cavity which showed the extent of the penetration from the front of the chest towards the back. The alleged killer must have used tremendous force.”

The police in Ogun on Tuesday recounted how they saved the wife of the Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Mrs. Muibat Salam, from her abductors.

Muibat was rescued from her alleged kidnappers at Ogunmakin Village in Odeda Local Government Area along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday after she was in captivity for five days.

She was kidnapped in Ejigbo, Osun State, on Tuesday last week by gunmen who had trailed her car.The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, who spoke at a press conference in Abeokuta on Monday, said his command received information from men of the state vigilance services that some bandits were lurking in the bush.

Okoye said, “The police teams quickly swung into action and moved to the scene where there was exchange of gunfire between policemen and the hoodlums.

“As a result, one of the bandits was shot dead, four others arrested, while the rest escaped with bullet wounds.”

The police commissioner also said Muibat was rescued unhurt during the operation.

He added that two AK 47 rifles and four magazines loaded with 78 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the bandits.

Chief Imam of Dogodawa Community Mosque, Mahmud Mohammed, on Monday narrated how he hid himself in an abandoned tyre, watching how worshippers leaving the mosque were killed in Kaduna on Sunday.

Over 24 worshippers were reportedly killed while many were injured during the attack on mosque by suspected armed robbers at Dogodawa village in Birnin Gwari Local Government.

Mohammed said he saw over 100 heavily armed bandits shooting the worshippers.

“The killers were saying that they had come to make real their threat. They shot and killed even children, it was sad indeed,” he said. A traditional title- holder of Danlawan Birnin Gwari, Alhaji Abdurauf, who blamed the police for the incident, said a governorship aspirant in the state, Alhaji Shuaibu Mikati, had earlier alerted the police to the threats to life and property in the area by robbers.

He said, “But nothing was done until the dawn attack on Sunday which has turned the entire area into deep sorrow and mourning.” He said Mikati wrote a letter to the Inspector-General of Police, notifying him of the warning issued by unknown persons who had vowed to unleash terror on the area.

The Police on Monday in Abuja confirmed that the four University of Port Harcourt students killed by a mob at Aluu, Rivers State, were not robbers.

A debtor who set them up masterminded their killings, the police rather said.

Four students, Ugunna Obuzor, (18), Lloyd Toku, (19), Tekena Elkanah, (20) and Chiadaka Odinga, (20) were lynched on October 5, 2012 by a mob.

The police named Coxson Lucky, alias Bright, as the mastermind behind the killings.

The Force also said it had arrested 21 other persons, among them Segun Lawal, Felemo Solomon; Cynthia Chinwo; Ozioma Abajuo and Chigozie Samuel Evans said to have played key roles in the killings. Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, who said Lucky raised the alarm that resulted in the lynching of the students, however, assured that all those found culpable in the killings would be prosecuted.

The victims, Abubakar, who spoke through the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said had gone to the community that morning to demand money allegedly owed them by Lucky, who raised the alarm that they were armed robbers.

Although, Lucky, the police chief said, had gone underground, detectives were still on his trail.

He said, “Intelligence report implicated the traditional ruler of Omukiri community, Aluu, Alhaji Hassan Welewa, as being the person who incited the mob to unleash terror on the victims. Further investigation conducted by the police indicates that four suspects, namely: Felemo Solomon; Cynthia Chinwo; Ozioma Abajuo and Chigozie Samuel Evans have been closely linked to this barbarous act.”

The IG explained that the police patrol team sent to the scene of the lynching could not rescue the students from the mob as members of the team were pelted with stones.

He said, “Consequently, the patrol team called for reinforcements, but unfortunately, upon the arrival of the reinforcements, the alleged robbery suspects had been stoned and burnt to death, while the mob immediately took to their heels.

“Their corpses were recovered by the Police who by then had been joined by members of the Joint Task Force. The victims were later identified to be students of University of Port Harcourt.”

He said investigation was ongoing and efforts were being intensified to track down others who were involved in the incident.

Madonna continued to use her 'MDNA Tour' to make yet another controversial statement by strip-teasing to 'show her support' for Malala Yousafzai, who was shot on a schoolbus for writing a blog about how important education is.

On her Wednesday night performance in the Staples Centre, Los Angeles, the singer began by telling her audience that she wanted have a 'serious talk'.

In yet another 'controversial' act, the singer took her clothes off to support a cause that had touched her.

Madonna shouted 'support education'... before taking her clothes off, angering Pakistani people who branded it 'cheap self popularity'.

According to Entertainment Today, she told fans that the news that the 14-year-old had been gunned down by the Taliban had made her 'cry'.

'The Taliban stopped her bus and shot her. Do you understand the sickness and absurdity of this?'

She rallied the crowd by shouting at them to support education and those who help women.

But then the millionaire decided that this performance clearly was not a strong enough statement, and chose to 'dedicate' a strip tease to the girl, who is currently in a critical condition.

She turned her back to reveal 'Malala' written across it, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

'This song is for Malala,' she said, before singing her 'Human Nature' song.

But her attempt to make a stand in the name of Malala backfired after furious Pakistanis discovered her act. There was a chorus of disapproval from Twitter users, who branded her performance a shameless attempt to garner attention, Entertainment Today reported.

Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has concluded arrangement to arraign Barrister Blessing Ukiri, the past immediate 1st Vice president of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA on charges bordering on fraud, stealing and money laundering.

Ukiri who is alleged to have converted a N35m judgement sum paid by the Central Bank of Nigeria to his client, one Samuel Onowighose, to his personal use, will be docked on Monday October 15, 2012 on a 3 count charge before a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt , Rivers State .

He was alleged to have used part of the money to acquire 150,000 units of First Bank of Nigeria Plc shares and thereby commits an offence punishable under section 14 (1) (a) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act.

Ukiri was arrested on Friday October 12, 2012, at his office on 12 Ohaeto Street D/Line, Port Harcourt , Rivers State .

The arrest followed a court order issued on Thursday October 11, 2012, by Justice U. N. Agomoh of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt , Rivers State.

Beans spilling from the can of The Headies (formerly Hip Hop World Awards) boss, Ayo Animashaun seems very smelly as he is in an alleged sexual harassment mess with a teenage girl. 

According to a source, Ayo is accused of sexually harassing a former female staff of his while the girl was on intern with him. The source gave the name of the 19 years old ex-worker of Ayo as Ajoke. 

The source narrated that Ajoke was working with Ayo's TV section of the company, (Hip On TV) when this ugly incident happened. Soon after Ayo's former front desk officer, who is also a lady resigned under controversial issues, Ayo drafted Ajoke to that desk pending the time he finds a replacement for the former person. 

But a week later, Ajoke was sacked and her salary not paid. When the Ajoke's mother arrived from the UK, she told her mum how Ayo allegedly made some sexual advances to her especially when they were alone. 

This infuriated the mother, who then stormed her daughter's former office to make a warning to Ayo that her daughter is not from a poor home and does not need his salaries or sexual advances to survive. She then reportedly told Ayo that he should pay Ajoke the salary owed her or get her (Ajoke's mum) wrath.
