Mali captain Seydou Keita on Monday hit back at those who say his side will face an uphill battle against Nigeria on Wednesday in the semi-finals because the Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has a good knowledge of the team having managed it for two years.

The former Barcelona midfielder said the outfit had changed since the Nigerian coach left in the wake of their debacle at the Angola 2010, and may have lost all the secrets of the team.

“People keep saying that Nigeria will beat us on Wednesday because their coach Stephen Keshi knows the in and out of Mali team having coached us in the past, but that is not true,” Keita said.

“We’ve had three coaches after Keshi’s departure and that should tell you a lot of transformation has taken place. Keshi, with all the respect I have for him, will meet a different team on Wednesday and not what he left behind. So tell him we have changed.”

The Malian Eagles finished third at the 2012 edition under French coach Alain Giresse, and brought their peculiarity of knocking out host nations to the ongoing tournament where they defeated South Africa on penalties like they did to Gabon last year.

The 33-year-old, who now plays for Chinese side Dalian Aerbin, believes they could have an edge if Wednesday’s clash runs into penalties.

Family friend rapes, impregnates 15-year-old girl...

Before July 2012 the families of Israel Jolaosho and Taju Adejumo, of Adefemi Ogundipe Street, Meiran in Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State, were best of friends.

But the relationship went sour recently after Adejumo, 40, allegedly raped Jolaosho’s 15-year-old daughter, Deborah.

After the rape, Deborah, who was a virgin, missed her period. subsequent medical examination showed that the 15-year-old pupil of Meiran Community Junior Secondary School was pregnant.

When Punch Metro visited the Jolaoshos on Monday, Deborah was seven-month pregnant and had been forced to drop out of school because of her condition.

Deborah told PUNCH Metro that on the fateful day, her mother, Rachel, had asked her to go to a construction site and bring back a plastic drum borrowed from her by Adejumo.

She said immediately she got there, Adejumo told her that the drum was kept upstairs and that she should go there and carry it.

Deborah said, “When I got there, he (Adejumo) came to meet me. When I was about to carry the drum, he held me tightly. As I was about shouting, he closed my mouth with clothes and tied me with ropes.

“After doing those things, he had sex with me. Because I have not had sex before, I had bruises and blood covered my private part. After the rape, he still left me tied but he removed the pieces of clothes in my mouth.

“I started crying but could not cry aloud. I asked what I had done to make him behave like that.

“After a long silence, he said I should not tell anybody what happened and that if I did, I would die after seven days. He then untied me after using the pieces of clothes to clean the blood in my private part.

“When I got home, my mother was angry that I overstayed but I could not tell her what happened to me because I was afraid I might die.”

The bubble, however, burst when Deborah started falling ill after the incident and was always vomiting.

She is the youngest person in history to be nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, and at just nine years old Quvenzhané Wallis knows how to liven up an Academy event.

The young star larked about and was the centre of attention at the 85th Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton on Monday.

Looking impeccable in a lilac party dress, and with one of her trademark puppy purses, the Beasts Of The Southern Wild star couldn't fail to cause a stir as she joked around.

Uninhibited by the A-listers sharing the room, she fooled around and made everyone smile.

At the age of five, Quvenzhané lied about her age to audition for her very first acting job, the starring role in Beasts Of The Southern Wild - the minimum age for consideration was six.

She won the part, beating 4,000 contenders for the role of Hushpuppy.

 

Director Benh Zeitlin said that when he auditioned Quvenzhané, he immediately realised he'd discovered what he was looking for, and changed the script to accommodate her large personality.

The child star flew to France for the premiere of Beasts Of The Southern Wild at the Cannes Film Festival in May last year, where it won the prestigious Caméra d'Or award for Best first Feature Film.

Last week the starlet appeared on the Jay Leno show, and won over audiences as she chatted confidently about whom she hopes to meet at the Oscars.

Last week, I found myself in the midst of one of those hair-raising, mother-daughter rows that inevitably escalates into a maelstrom of insults and yelling.

The argument kicked off on the topic of 14-year-old Flo trowelling on mascara to go to school, but soon veered off down a well-trodden path: that of my general shortcomings as a mother and the utterly agonising existence she has to endure being my daughter.

All of which I can cope with. What I couldn’t tolerate? The fact that, as I was mid-sentence, she viciously slammed the living room door in my face, almost taking off my nose.

Before I even had time to think what I was doing, I had wrenched the door open again and slapped her — hard — on the bottom.

The look of utter shock on her face said it all. It might have been a while since I’ve smacked Flo, but in that instant I knew I still had to show the upper (rather sore) hand.

Of course, I know that there will be an army of liberal, politically correct parents out there reading this in horror, their fingers itching to dial the number for social services.

Indeed, I can almost hear their cries of: ‘Couldn’t you reason with her instead? Taken a deep breath and explained that slamming doors is impolite?’

The answer — quite simply — is: Get real. At that moment, what my ranting, rude and hormonal daughter needed was a short, sharp reminder that she’d overstepped the boundaries.

I’m not singling Flo out for particularly harsh treatment — my other three children have all been subjected to exactly the same old-fashioned discipline. And not just from me. My husband, Keith, has also smacked them (although he is more likely to shout instead, before reaching for a glass of wine).

So smacking usually falls to me. Three-year-old Dolly recently felt my hand — although more gently than her sister. The boundary which had been breached was a kerb along a busy street. She stepped out into the traffic from between two parked cars, and in that heart-lurching moment I grabbed her — and swiped my hand across the backs of her legs.

They know their baby is due any day, so perhaps hip hop couple Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose were sneaking in a date night. 

The 25-year-old rapper posted a photo Monday to Twitter of himself and fiancee Rose cuddling up together in a private booth at a restaurant, an obviously proud Wiz showing off his good looking baby mama. 

'Dinner wit tha wife,' the Rolling Papers singer wrote, calling her his wife in customary fashion, despite the pair not being wed yet.

The 29-year-old model wore a tight grey dress in the photo, emphasizing the fact her bun looks fully cooked and ready to be removed from the oven. 

Over the weekend, the trend setter posted a picture of her performing a pre-natal yoga class to her Instagram despite the fact that she's nine months gone. 

In the snap, the striking celebrity can be see impressively lifting her legs without a hint of the fatigue you might expect at this stage.

Rose has been documenting her pregnancy diligently via social media. 

The beauty, who also posted a tender picture of her kissing fiance Wiz with the caption 'good morning' is particularly proud of her belly thanks to still having no stretch marks.

Amber catalogued her bump with yet another photo last week as she stood next to a mirror to show it off in all its glory.

She proudly wrote: '9 months pregnant & no stretch marks on my body thank u Jesus!!! :-).'

But it seems Amber is more patient than most when it comes to finally welcoming the tot into the world and is fed up with people telling her how long she's been pregnant for.

She added: 'I gotta be honest it's really irritating to hear ppl say "God, u've been pregnant forever".... I'm making a baby not Ramen noodles.'

It seems Amber is considering a home birth as just a few days ago she was seen clutching booklets on the method.

While it was once the normal practice, giving birth at home fell out of favour in the U.S. in the 40s and today fewer than 1 in 100 women opt for it.

But it is clear that Amber Rose is at least looking into the idea.

While a rare choice in the U.S., giving birth at home remains an option in other developed nations, particularly Holland.

She had earlier shared a photo of her growing bump on her Twitter page yet again, writing: 'The baby was kickin @sammyrexic & @priscillaono Lol they were freaking out ;-)'. 

In the snap, Amber is seen tenderly resting hands on her burgeoning tummy.

Man tattoos his name across FACE of woman he met only 24 hours earlier - and now they're getting married (just as well really!)

A tattooist has inked his name across his girlfriend's face less than 24 hours after they first met.

Lesya Toumaniantz from Saransk, Russia, allowed Rouslan Toumaniantz to sign 'Ruslan' over her face in giant Gothic script on the day they met

The pair - who'd met on an online chat room - say they quickly fell 'head over heels in love' and soon after met in Moscow, Russia, where they decided to get married.

'It's a symbol of our eternal devotion. I'd like him to tattoo every inch of my body," she said.

The tattoo-mad former art student whose sister is also a tattoo artist added that above her eyebrow he had written All For Love.

'All for Ruslan,' she posted on her Facebook today next to a big pink heart.

 

And now Lesya who has already taken Toumaniantz’s name despite only being engaged since January 20 is learning to tattoo under his tutorship.

'Their plans for a life together include her learning to tattoo while she also gets the full-body ink that she’s always dreamed of and of course a family,' said a friend of Toumaniantz.

He added: 'I know that there are people who are terrified that Lesya has made a rash decision that she’ll regret horribly, but sometimes the best decisions are the ones you make in an instant with your heart rather than the ones long-debated in your mind.

Friends of Lesya have flooded her with messages praising the artwork and how beautiful she looks. 'You must be so happy that you can wear that tattoo. Enjoy it. It looks great,' wrote Ralf Bieler.

'Sooo beautiful. even the style of the name fits your face well,' wrote another.

Mr Toumaniantz's handiwork hit the headlines in 2009 after he tattooed 56 stars across an 18-year-old's face who then lied and accused him of inking her when she was asleep.

Mr Toumaniantz fled Belgium after the scandal caused by Kimberley Vlaeminckin in 2009. 

She lied to her family and reporters and claimed that she had asked Mr Toumaniantz for just three stars near her eye.

As her regret sank in, she claimed he kept adding more and more after she fell asleep at the Tattoo Box in Coutrai, Belgium.

She promised to sue the tattooist for the cost of removal, claiming a language barrier meant the Flemish speaker had misunderstood when she gave instructions in French and English. 

Miss Vlaeminck said she avoided going out in public because the tattoos made her feel like a 'freak'.But a week later she confessed to a Dutch TV station that she had been awake throughout and had indeed asked for the full 56 marks.

She said she lied because she was afraid of how her father would react.

Even still, Mr Toumaniantz - whose own face is covered in tattoos and piercings - offered to pay half the cost of laser removal, saying he did not want to leave a customer unsatisfied.

He later retracted this offer, leaving Miss Vlaeminck to cover the cost alone.

Though laser treatment has been shown to be a effective way of removing ink, even the most advanced technology would leave white marks across her face.

Confusion in FCT over bomb scare...

Confusion enveloped the Federal Capital Territory on Monday following the reported planting of a bomb at the Nigerian Postal Services in Area 10, Abuja.

Many FCT residents became apprehensive as they sent out text messages, warning their friends and relations to steer clear of the NIPOST office.

Our correspondent learnt that the police anti-bomb squad arrived at the scene and removed a package suspected to be Improvised Explosive Device from the post office premises.

The Commissioner of Police in the FCT, Mr. Aderenle Shinaba, who briefed reporters on the scare, however, said there was no bomb explosion in any part of the territory.

He said what was rumoured as explosion was the sound from a controlled detonation carried out on the suspected package by men of the anti-bomb squad.

Shinaba said following information received by the command on the object about 10 a.m., men from the Explosive Ordnance Department were dispatched to the scene.
