Children who long to see more of mum: Six in ten want extra time with their parents...

Distracted: Long hours means six in ten children feel they don't see enough of their mother or father
Distracted: Long hours means six in ten children feel they don't see enough of their mother or father..

Hello Friends!

Children are growing up wishing they could spend more time with their parents, a survey suggests. Six in ten youngsters thought their parents spend too much time away from the family.

One in eight parents admitted they give their children their full attention only ‘once or twice a week’. The most hard-pressed said they are never able to focus just on their child.
The Family and Parenting Institute, which commissioned the survey, said the findings showed the extent to which pressures on parents’ time affect family life.

The charity said British parents work longer hours than those in most European countries and are adding to their workload due to economic uncertainty.
The survey findings were released to coincide with Parents’ Week, which starts today.

Research firm Child wise interviewed 255 children aged six to ten and one parent of each child.
It found that 59 per cent of youngsters wished they could spend more time with their mother or father – rising to three-quarters in London and the south of England.
Only four in ten (42 per cent) wanted to spend more time with their friends and even fewer, seven per cent, wanted to do more with their siblings.

When parents were asked how much time they spent with their children, just over half (52 per cent) said they were able to give their child their full attention at least once every day.
But 13 per cent of parents could devote their full attention only ‘once or twice a week’ and two per cent never could. Parents of the oldest children, ten-year-olds, were most likely to admit being unable to give their full attention to their child more than once or twice weekly.

One in five (18 per cent) said this was the level of one-to-one interaction with their children.
Nearly two-thirds (64 per cent) of parents believed that the quality of time spent with children was more important than the actual amount.

Adele Gives Birth to a Baby Boy!

Adele Gives Birth to a Baby Boy!

Hello Friends!

Adele better brush up on her lullabies!

The eight-time Grammy winner has given birth to a healthy baby boy, a source tells Us Weekly. It is the first child for Adele and the second for her boyfriend, Simon Konecki, who has a five-year-old daughter with ex-wife Clary Fisher.

In the time since confirming her pregnancy on her official blog in July, the 24-year-old pop star has remained largely out of the spotlight as she focused on her baby-to-be. "The baby is healthy and she's so excited!" an Adele confidant told Us Weekly in late September.

Going back into the recording studio to belt out "Skyfall," the theme song for the new James Bond film just prior to giving birth, Adele is also working on her next full-length album. Her new music, a source explains, will be inspired in large part by her new bundle of joy.

"The pregnancy has had a big impact on her songwriting!" explains the insider, who tells Us the new album will be lighter in tone than her breakup-themed disc 21, released in early 2011.

Congratulations Adele!

Hello Friends!

Another set of triplets was delivered on Friday at the Fr. Joseph High School Relief Camp for flood victims in Anambra State.
Mrs. Josephine Ejimofor, who was delivered of the babies, is a native of Enugu-Otu Aguleri, in the Anambra East Local Government Area of the state.

The first set of triplets was born in the same camp about two weeks ago.
Governor Peter Obi celebrated with the Ejimofors on the safe delivery of the new triplets when he visited them in the camp. “If you are looking for a child, maybe you will have to come to the camp,” the governor had joked during the visit.

Reiterating his commitment to the welfare of the people displaced by the floods that ravaged parts of Anambra recently, Obi promised to help rebuild their homes when the flood recedes.
The governor thanked President Goodluck Jonathan and the Millenium Development Goals Office in Abuja for their intervention and commitment to ameliorating the suffering of the displaced persons.

He said that necessary commitments and other measures were in place to sustain prudent and transparent distribution of the relief materials, while soliciting for more interventions.

SSS summons Senator Zanna over Boko Haram commander

Senator Ahmed Zanna
Senator Ahmed Zanna.

Hello Friends!

The State Security Service has summoned a serving Senator, Ahmed Zanna, over his alleged involvement with the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram.
The summons is in connection with the arrest last week of a suspected member of the group, Shuaibu Bama, in a house believed to be the senator’s.

The Joint Task Force had arrested Bama in the building along Damboa Road in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, last Friday after soldiers stormed the House.
The JTF had claimed that Bama was one of the commanders of the sect, who had been under watch.

Zanna, who represents Borno-Central Senatorial District, confirmed the summons to newsmen on Sunday. He admitted being aware of a text message from the Director-General of the SSS, Mr. Ekpenyong Ita, inviting him to the SSS headquarters on Monday (today).

Zanna stated that since the incident occurred he had not been contacted by security agencies until Sunday.“Since my house was searched and the JTF made the announcement, I have not been contacted by security agencies. “But it was only this morning (Sunday), I saw a text that the SSS DG will want to see me on Monday. I will honour the invitation”, he said.

The senator denied that Bama had any links with the sect, though he admitted that he was his sister’s son. He described Bama as a “drug addict”, who frequently threatened to kill members of his family. He claimed that due to his behavior  he had to send him out of his house, but could not explain how he found his way back to his house last week.
