I didn’t go abroad for cosmetic surgery – Patience

Patience Jonathan

Hello Friends!

Wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Dame Patience, returned to the country on Wednesday after spending about seven weeks abroad.
Mrs. Jonathan arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja from a foreign country widely believed to be Germany. She returned in one of the aircraft in the Presidential Fleet

As soon as she alighted from the aircraft, she denied media reports that she went abroad for cosmetic surgery. She also denied being an in-patient in a German hospital on account of a terminal disease, adding that her husband loved her physique.
She said, “I read in the media where they said I was in the hospital. God Almighty knows I have never been to that hospital. I don’t even know the hospital they mentioned.

“I have to explain what God has done for me. I do not have terminal illness, or (went for) any cosmetic surgery, more or less tummy tuck. “My husband loves me as I am and I am pleased with how God created me.”

Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck is a cosmetic surgical procedure that is used to make the abdomen more firm. Wikipedia says it “involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen in order to tighten the muscle and fascia of the abdominal wall.”

Mrs. Jonathan arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja a few minutes before 4pm in a presidential aircraft. She was dressed in a multi-colour boubou with a matching headgear and appeared to have lost weight. She was received by family members and friends amidst singing and drumming by women, masqueraders and cultural groups in different uniforms.
The wife of the President, whose dressing was devoid of the usual heavy jewellery, said that the prayers of Nigerians sustained her during what she called her “period of trial”.

The most inspiring CoverGirl ever? Make-up blogger, 13, fighting two types of cancer becomes honorary face of beauty giant...

Hello Friends!

My Thoughts: This Is Simply making use of 'Life' as one has it for the moment. This is very inspirational...

A 13-year-old cancer sufferer, who became a YouTube star thanks to her inspired make-up video tutorials, has become an honorary face of CoverGirl.

Talia Joy Castellano was thrilled to learn the news last month during an interview with Ellen Degeneres, and today, the beauty giant released a campaign-style image bearing her face.

The teenager, who developed an interest in make-up six years ago, when she was first diagnosed with neuroblastoma, has attracted over 14million viewers to her video blog.
This summer, however, Talia uploaded a post announcing she now has 'neuroblastoma and leukemia at the same time'.
Although she says 'the chances of surviving are fewer than surviving,' she will continue her videos 'for as long as I can.'

Despite the harrowing diagnosis, Talia was bursting with positivity and energy when she appeared on Ms DeGeneres' show.
Clearly in awe of the host and the standing ovation she was greeted with, her eyes welled up at the beginning.

'I'm shaking I love you so much!' she admitted.

Mutual admiration: The teenager, who developed an interest in make-up six years ago, when she was first diagnosed with neuroblastoma, was as in awe of Ellen as the host was of her.

In awe: Talia had no idea Ellen would surprise her with her very own CoverGirl poster

Indeed, when asked how she stays so positive, Talia quoted a line Ms Degeneres said in her role as Dory in Finding Nemo.
'When people ask me that, what do you want me to do, be depressed?' she said. 'I mean a little fishy told me, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming!"'

Of course, the admiration was mutual, and Ms Degeneres, in turn could not praise Talia enough.
'I'll keep telling you that too,' she replied. 'I'm so glad that a fish told you that.

Parents protest unwarranted killings

The Students killed at Aluu

Hello Friends!

Some concerned parents, under the aegis of Nigerian Youths Must Live, have called on the government to take decisive steps to halt unwarranted killings in the country.
The group said it was outraged by the killings of four students of the University of Port Harcourt in Aluu, Rivers State, and other unresolved killings.

NYML lamented that the trend had compromised the safety and well-being of youths in the country.

When on Monday the group met in Lagos, there was an outpouring of emotions as speakers roundly condemned the trend and asked the Federal Government to rise to the challenges of insecurity and other vices in the land. Convener of the group, Mrs. Roli Craig, said the NYML was formed as an advocacy group to compel the government to address the problems in the land.

Craig, a lawyer, said parents had resolved that they would no longer take excuses from the government for “senseless killings” in Nigeria.
She said, “You will recall that in recent times, young female students returning from their schools were raped. Many more were killed in school while most recently in Port Harcourt, four young undergraduates were murdered in the most barbaric and savagery manner.

“Prior to these events, were the senseless killings of youth corps members while serving their fatherland in the aftermath of the 2011 presidential election in some parts of the country.
“Most of us who are parents today, attended higher institutions far away from home and served as corps members in different cultures. We were cared for and protected by the government and our host communities.”

Suspects paraded at the Rivers State Police command.

Hello Friends!

The police on Tuesday announced a major breakthrough in their investigation into the lynching of four University of Port Harcourt students. The videotaped lynching of the students sparked outrage nationwide and the clip of the killings went viral on the Internet.

The IG disclosed the arrest during a security meeting with Chief Executive Officers and security officers of banks at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

“I want to announce that we have made a breakthrough in the Aluu killings. The two main suspects in the case have been arrested and they will be prosecuted,” he said. The arrest brings the number of suspects arrested by the police to 23.

The students were set upon by a mob in Aluu, a community close to the university, and lynched. They were later identified as 19-year-old Lloyd Toku ( 200 level Civil Engineering); 18-year-old Ugonna Obuzor (200 level Geology student); 20-year-old Chiadika Biringa, (200 level Theatre Arts student); and Tekena Erikena, a 20-year-old a diploma (Technical) student by the management of the university.

The police, on Monday, had named Coxson Lucky, alias Bright, as the mastermind of the lynching. Lucky, who was said to owe one of the students an undisclosed sum of money, reportedly raised the alarm that the students were robbers when they went to his house to demand for the money. The mob, which converged on the venue of the altercation, then beat and burn the students to death.

While the IGP was speaking in Abuja, the Rivers State Police Command was parading some of the suspects. The State Police Commissioner, Mr. Mohammed Ndabawa, gave the names of the suspects as Segun Lawal, Felemo Solomon, Cynthia Chinwo, Ozioma Abajuo, Ikechukwu Louis and Chigozie Samuel Evans. He accused the suspects of playing major roles in the killings.

Hello Friends!

Kristen Stewart has been pictured with boyfriend Robert Pattinson for the first time since news broke of her affair with married director Rupert Sanders back in July.

The Twilight stars both wore backwards baseball caps and sunglasses as they hung around outside a restaurant. Sporting cut off denim shorts and a white T-shirt, Kristen looked relaxed in the British actor's company.

Pattinson meanwhile, looked his usual low-key self in a well worn vintage T-shirt and a smattering of stubble. Monday's sighting comes after the pair were spotted enjoying the Los Angeles nightlife together over the weekend.
