'He tried to cut off his manhood with craft scissors': The torment of transgender boy before finding peace as nine-year-old girl...

Finally happy: Danann, nine, who was born male but now dresses as a little girl and has long hair, tried to cut off her penis at age four
Finally happy: Danann, nine, who was born male but now dresses as a little girl and has long hair, tried to cut off her penis at age four.

Hello Friends!

When Danann Tyler was just two years old, he insisted he was a girl, and asked to wear dresses and grow his hair. His yoga instructor mother, Sarah, 39, and father Bill, 45, a police officer, struggled to explain his behaviour, and put it down to a phase. However two years later, Danann attempted to cut off his penis with a pair of scissors.

'I found him in the playroom trying to cut off his penis with a pair of craft scissors,' the mother from Orange County, California, told Closer magazine. 'He was weirdly calm, saying, "I'm going to get rid of this". I felt sick.'

Over the next two years, Dannan was misdiagnosed with ADHD and bipolar disorder.
Mrs Tyler, who also has an older son, 11-year-old James, said: 'His school work suffered and he started lashing out when I dressed him. I'd have bite marks and bruises. I was devastated.'
When she refused to let him wear a dress to a party, she says: 'He jumped out of the car and ran into traffic saying, "I want to die".

He was immediately seen by a psychiatrist after Mrs Tyler contacted her local hospital, and after a month of tests and therapy, Danann was diagnosed with gender identity disorder, a condition where sufferers are unhappy with their sex.

Doctors said despite his young age, he needed to start living as a girl, son his parents made the decision to bring him up as their daughter, allowing him to grow his hair and wear girls clothes full time, even to school. Danann, who hasn't changed her name as it's unisex, is happy for the first time, and Mrs Tyler says she'll support Danann if she wants a full sex change operation at 15.

She recalls picking Danann, then age two, up from a friend's house who has a little girl and found him wearing a Cinderella dress, mini high heels an pink painted nails.
'He'd scream when I'd try to put him in boys clothes'

'When I asked him take the clothes off, he started crying,' she said.
'He'd scream when I'd try to put him in boys clothes, and when I picked him up from nursery, I noticed he'd be playing in the miniature kitchen with the girls and didn't like trucks or action figures. I assumed it was a phase.'

Danann began drawing pictures of himself as a girl, which were usually illustrated with an unhappy face, and by the time he was three, his tantrums worsened.
'He got really upset when I referred to him as a boy and kept asking me why he had a penis. He'd scream if I wanted to cut his hair. I occasionally let him wear pink T-shirts and necklaces under his clothes, but Bill wasn't happy. He's a man's man - and he didn't like his son looking girly.'

'It really disturbed me to see him so down,' she added. 'Bill was really freaked out.'

When Danann turned four, Sarah caught him trying to cut off his penis with a pair of craft scissors, but luckily he 'just had a few minor cuts,' she said,.
Danann was to a psychologist who told Mrs Tyler he was attention seeking.
'I wondered whether Danann was gay,' Mrs tyler admitted. 'At school he started trying to use the girls toilets and queuing with the girls when they were divided into groups. Luckily, most children at his primary school were accepting.'

Jonathan not afraid of Boko Haram – Presidency

Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe
Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe.

Hello Friends!

The Presidency has dismissed claims that President Goodluck Jonathan is afraid of Boko Haram.
Special Assistant to the President on Public Communication, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said this at a media briefing in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said it was wrong to assume that Jonathan refused to go to Eagles Square, Abuja, for the second year running to mark the country’s 52nd Independence on Monday because he feared he could be attacked by the Islamic sect.
Okupe said, “The President was not and is not afraid of the sect. To say he celebrated the anniversary in his bedroom because of Boko Haram sect is an insult.”

But when asked why the President increased the number of the Special Forces Battalion of the Brigade of Guards in the Presidential Villa, Okupe said it was because the Boko Haram issue was a very serious one. He said, “We are dealing with a very serious sect, Boko Haram, and I am surprised that people are asking why the President is ensuring that his security is beefed up.

“Under this circumstance, the President is the commander-in-chief. When you go to war; the commander-in-chief is the one in charge. “When you go to war, in those days the man that carries the flag, when he falls down, that is the end of the war.
“So, you have to make sure that he (the C-in-C) stands and stands erect. The fact that the security in the Villa is beefed up is borne out of necessity and circumstances.”

Hello Friends!

Women leader, Redeemed Church of God, Cornerstone Parish, Lagos, Mrs. Adebusola Odunaya, on Tuesday described her release by kidnappers after six days of captivity as an act of God.
PUNCH Metro reported last Thursday that Adebusola had on Saturday, September 21, left home for Lagos to buy beverages and some other items but could not be found for six days.

But the 37-year-old Adebusola resurfaced on September 27.
In a telephone interview, Adebusola said although she could not recognise the exact spot, she was held in a bush along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and was released after six days.
Adebusola said, “On the fateful day, I was to go to Lagos Island to pick my stock of noodles. It was past 12 noon.

“When I got to Ishaga area, there was no vehicle there. I decided to go to Agege to board a bus. When I got to Agege, there was no direct bus going to Idumota on Lagos Island. I had to board an Oshodi vehicle (molue). As we were already in the vehicle, I heard a conductor calling Idumota. I had to alight from the vehicle I was in and went for that.

“When I got there, the vehicle was still loading. Three women and the driver were inside. I joined them. As soon as I did, the women then asked the driver to move so that they could carry people along the road. I became happy that the vehicle would be fast.

“As we were expecting the vehicle to move, the conductor came and touched me with the handkerchief he was holding. That was when I fell asleep. I did not wake until five days after in a forest along Lagos- Ibadan Expressway.”
Adebusola said when she regained consciousness on the fifth day, she found out that her hair had been cut and the money she wanted to use to pay for the items, about N500, 000 had been taken.

Presidency probes alleged lie in Jonathan’s Independence speech

President Goodluck Jonathan

Hello Friends!

SOME of President Goodluck Jonathan’s aides may be in trouble for reportedly putting false information in the 52nd Independence anniversary speech of the President.
Jonathan in his 52nd Independence Day broadcast told Nigerians that the global corruption watch body, Transparency International, rated Nigeria second after United States in anti-corruption efforts.

The claim has been found to be untrue with many accusing Jonathan of telling a lie.
In fact, TI has reportedly denied issuing such a report.

Furious at the development, the President has reportedly ordered a probe to discover the source of the misinformation. “In its latest report, Transparency International noted that Nigeria is the second most improved country in the effort to curb corruption. We will sustain the effort in this direction with an even stronger determination to strengthen the institutions that are statutorily entrusted with the task of ending this scourge,” Jonathan had told the nation on October 1.

The President had made a similar claim at an interdenominational church service held on Sunday as part of the activities marking the nation’s 52nd Independence anniversary.
But an online publication, Premium Times, reports that TI refuted the claim when it was contacted.

“Transparency International does not have a recent rating or report that places Nigeria as the second most improved country in the fight against corruption,” Premium Times quoted the organisation to have said in a mail.
A source said since he had based his speech on information made available to him by his aides, the President promptly ordered the probe of the source of the claim.

Couple disagree over multi million naira properties...

Mr. and Mrs. Dipeolu on their wedding day

Hello Friends!

A 45-year-old woman, Florence Dipeolu, on Monday in Lagos accused her husband, Abimbola, of selling the properties they jointly owned.
Florence said she regretted operating a joint account with her husband of 22 years, adding that she was left with nothing after her husband sold all she had toiled for.

She said, “After our marriage, he asked me to operate a joint account with him and I obliged. We made many investments in real estate among others. But unfortunately, in 2010 he and the children he had in his previous marriage started accusing me of infidelity.
“His children would come to my matrimonial house and beat me up while he personally supervises the beating. In June last year, I was beaten to a coma and did not return to the house after I was discharged from hospital.”

She said when she returned to the house, she found out that the house, which they jointly built, had been sold. Florence accused her husband of forcibly asking her children to sign the documents he used to sell the seven-bedroom duplex at Alakuko area of Lagos.

She said, “Apart from this, he sold my two vehicles, invaded my food processing factory and sold all the plants and equipment there. “He also sold the fuel tanker I use for oil business. In fact, he has ruined me and I am left with nothing. All attempts to get him reverse his decisions have proved abortive.”

Florence said she could no longer cater for the need of her children.
She said, “Our marriage produced five children, three of them are undergraduates in Ghana, one just finished secondary school while the last child is still in secondary school.
