A suspected thief, Adewunmi Abdullahi, who tried to dispossess a photojournalist ofThe PUNCH of his belongings on Friday in Lagos, met his waterloo when he was ‘arrested’ by his victim and dragged to a police station.

The photojournalist, Olatunji Obasa, said the suspected crook, connived with another young man to rob him on the pedestrian bridge at Oshodi around 8.30am.

Obasa said he wanted to take photographs of an accident scene when he noticed two men attempting to snatch his belongings from him.

He said, “I looked down from the bridge and saw an accident scene. But as I tried to take a shot, I felt a hand in my pocket. As I tried to check what was happening, I noticed that another hand was unlatching my bag.

“Immediately, I gripped the hand in my pocket and shouted ‘thief, thief.’ The other man trying to unlatch my bag quickly fled. But I held on to the other one and hit him. As I did that, passers-by had gathered and helped to hold him.”

Obasa said he dragged the young man, whose age he put at around 20, down the bridge where a policeman, who had noticed the fray, asked what happened.

He said, “I told him the young man tried to rob me. Everybody around there said there were lots of robbers operating in groups like that in the area. We then took the young man to the Mosafejo Police Division, Oshodi.

“I made a statement there. I think the police would take appropriate action on the issue.”

And it could be that Kim Kardashian has more in common with her current beau Kanye West than she initially thought, as it has been claimed the rapper has starred in his very own intimate video. 

The nearly 20-minute-long recording is believed to have been shot with an unidentified female who is a 'dead ringer' for Kim herself, RadarOnline.com reports.

Sex tape: Kanye West allegedly filmed an intimate video with an unidentified woman shortly before he started dating Kim Kardashian.

Filmed in what appears to be a hotel room, the married woman reportedly confirms at the start of the tape that she's over the age of 18 and fully consenting.

She adds: 'My husband and I don't have sex anymore... that's why I'm here!'

According to the US gossip site, the mystery woman is a Kim lookalike with a curvaceous figure and long dark hair.

Radar maintains to have seen the steamy tape in full and claim they can verify 'without a doubt' that it is the 35-year-old rapper in the video.

Throughout the romp, the pair allegedly don't kiss or interact in any way apart from trying out various positions.

The man who appears to be Kanye is said to be aware he is being filmed because he not only set up the camera, but also looks directly into the device at the end of the video. 

According to an industry insider, the tape was shot shortly before Kanye officially got together with Kim in March, and he is said to be 'terrified' about the video being leaked. 

A source claimed to Radar: 'The sex tape is being shopped right now and there's a lot of interest, but Kanye is freaking out!

'He doesn't want this tape out and will do anything to make sure it stays private. If this were to hit the market it would be worth a fortune… there would definitely be a lot of people wanting to see this! 'Kanye was practically in tears when he heard the tape was being shopped.'

The father of the front line soldier who gave birth in Afghanistan claimed last night that his daughter had heaped shame on his family and the Army.

Maurice Wallace told of his fury that she had failed to tell her parents about the baby and that Army officials ‘could not be bothered’ to contact them.

Lance Bombardier Lynette Pearce, 28, who did not know she was pregnant, had spent months fighting the Taliban with the Royal Artillery when she unexpectedly went into labour.

Miss Pearce, who is originally from Fiji, gave birth to her son in a surgical theatre at Camp Bastion two days after complaining of severe abdominal cramps.

Mr Wallace, a police officer in Fiji, said his daughter had shown ‘great disrespect to the Army – and the Army has shown great disrespect to me and my family by their silence over this affair’.

He said he only learned yesterday that Miss Pearce was the soldier who had given birth on the front line.

He added: ‘It’s a total disgrace. We've got a thousand questions – who is the father, what does this mean for her future, will she have to leave the Army?’

Speaking to the Daily Mail from his home near the Fijian west coast town of Nadi, he said: ‘I’m furious with her because she hasn't been in touch with us since she had the child and I’m livid with all those British officials who had a duty to contact me immediately.

‘Lynette has been doing her duty for the British so isn't it right that the Army should have done their duty to her family and contacted us immediately about the birth?

Fashola, clerics to tackle noise pollution...

The Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola is to meet with religious leaders to address noise pollution in the state.

The General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Rasheed Shabi, stated this at Amuwo Odofin Local Government on Friday during the inaugural campaign against pollution, especially noise, at the grassroots.

Shabi said, “Governor Fashola will in the next few weeks invite the league of Imams and church leaders to his office to address noise pollution in the state.

“We need to know how many religious houses we have in every local government. The local governments should be able to meet with these religious bodies twice in a year to stem noise pollution.

“Excessive exposure to noise can lead to deafness and eyes defect. You cannot open mosques and churches in residential areas and disturb others; we can’t take that. We want to work with you to curb this.

“The Local Government should call all these people together and use the language they understand to pass the message across to them. You have the responsibility to mobilise your people and tell them what the government wants.”

Shabi explained that LASEPA was using the campaign to strengthen its collaboration with 57 councils in the state to combat industrial and noise pollution.

He lamented that noise pollution had been giving the state government serious concern, saying the agency receives between 10 and 15 petitions on noise pollution daily.

The LASEPA boss told Amuwo Odofin council officials led by the Secretary to the local government, Shade Ajao, and the Manager, Segun Ajao, that Fashola had directed the agency to partner with councils in the state to curb industrial and noise pollution.

He said, “Pollution has been a problem to the state. Close to 60 per cent of pollution comes from the over 3, 000 industries we have in the state.

Suicide bomber kills three in Bauchi church attack

A suicide bomber on Sunday attacked the St. John’s Catholic Church in the Wunti area of Bauchi, Bauchi State. Police confirmed that four persons, including a four-year-old boy and the bomber, died in the attack that took place immediately after the morning mass at 8.55am.

Forty six other persons, according to the Public Relations Officer, Bauch State Police Command, Hassan Auyo, sustained varying degrees of injuries.

A similar bomb attack on the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Mandalla, Niger State, last Christmas Day left at least 43 dead and scores injured.

The suicide bomber in Bauch in Sunday, according to witnesses, rammed his Opel Vectra car onto the church gate when he could not gain entrance into the premises as a result of a barricade.

Since the Christmas Day bombing in Madalla and others in the North, worship houses have been encouraged by security agencies to take precautionary measures to secure their buildings and worshippers.

Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, Bauchi State chapter, Rev. Lawi Pokti, said more than 40 worshipers were injured, some critically.

Pokti, “The incident occurred around 8.55am. when the first set of worshippers were coming out of the church and the second session was about to start.

“The suicide bomber came in an Opel car but could not get through to the church premises so he hit the barricade at the gate and detonated his explosive device.

“He and three worshipers died while over 40 others were injured. Some of those injured are battling between life and death.”

A worshipper, Mr Osondu Chukwu, told the News Agency of Nigeria that but for the barricade, the casualties would have been more.

“The sound was massive. You could imagine what would have happened if he had succeeded in getting to the hall where service was taking place,” he said.

Secretary of the Nigeria Red Cross in Bauchi State, Mr Adamu Abubakar, also confirmed that three persons died along with the bomber.

“Three persons died and 48 others were injured. Those injured are now being treated at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, Bauchi,” he said.

When on September 15, 2012, Ugochukwu Ozuah, married Joan, his girlfriend of nearly two years; family and friends rejoiced with them at The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, Lagos.

The 36-year-old man and Joan then stayed at the Whispering Palms, a beach resort in Badagry, for three days for their honeymoon.

The couple’s joy was however cut short on September 20, 2012, when the groom was allegedly shot and killed by policemen attached to the Anthony Division.

Ozuah, an indigene of Anambra State and Mechanical Engineering Graduate of the University of Ado Ekiti, was allegedly killed close to the UPS Bus Stop along Oworonsoki-Oshodi Expressway while dropping his friend off.

The friend, Erikefe Omene, who came from the United Kingdom to attend the wedding, told PUNCH Metro that he still could not understand why the policemen shot the deceased.

He said, “I went to visit Ozuah at his house at Oke Olowo Estate on Thursday. When it was around 10pm, I wanted to leave but he said taxis were not allowed into the estate so he decided to drop me off outside the estate where I would get a taxi. We got into his car, a Honda CRV, and he drove out. As we approached the expressway, there was an ash/blue car that stopped around the same time to drop someone.

“An individual came out of the car which was now parked side by side with ours. Because of the manner with which it was parked, I didn’t know the type of car it was. Policemen approached the said car and I thought it was just a routine check so we didn’t pay it much attention.

“Ozuah parked the car and we both alighted so we could stop a taxi but before he to shut the door, one of the policemen said, ‘Who’s there? Who goes there?’ And shot Ozuah who then fell flat on the floor. Individuals from the ash/blue car suddenly ran behind Ozuah’s car to where I was and I thought the policemen might come around to shoot. So, I ran back into the estate.”

Omene said he went to the deceased’s house to inform his wife of what had happened. He said Joan, and her in-laws took another car and drove back to the scene.
